Background
Subduing Dragon Temple was a Peak Six-Star Overlord Faction whose monopoly over an entire province gave it foundations beyond any one of Cloud Province’s Three Great Sects. Its power included tens of thousands of inner disciples, hundreds of Grandmasters, powerful inherited arts, and a Venerable-level sect-protecting formation. 114
Its founding ancestor was among the Human Race Venerables who killed a newly ascended True Dragon centuries earlier. The temple received part of the dragon’s corpse, refining it into spiritual medicines, artifacts, and a final drop of Venerable-Realm true dragon essence blood. 127
The temple’s conflict with Guiyuan Sect began when Ten Thousand Sword Villa discovered an undeveloped Mid-Grade Mystic Realm in the Heavenly Net Mountains, on the Cloud Province–Nether Province border. Subduing Dragon Temple also claimed the realm, forcing Ten Thousand Sword Villa to ally with Guiyuan Sect and the Blood Fiend Devil Sect. 113
Foundations and Assets
| Asset / Force | Details |
|---|---|
| Sect-protecting formation | A Venerable-level formation established by the founding patriarch. It was intended to withstand attacks below the third Venerable layer for the time needed to burn an incense stick, but Chen Xuan shattered it with one blade aura. 146 |
| Black Dragon Sword | A Venerable-Realm Dao Artifact and the temple’s greatest inherited weapon. It had slain Heavenly Human Grandmasters and a newly ascended True Dragon. 145 |
| True dragon essence blood | The final drop of true dragon blood remaining from the founding ancestor’s spoils. It could help a Yang Spirit Grandmaster attempt a Heavenly Human breakthrough and was offered to the Heavenly Demon Sect as payment to assassinate Chen Xuan. 127 |
| Under-thirty elite disciples | Zhao Jingang, Qin Yuan, and Liu Wuhen were Condensation Origin Grandmasters who had cultivated Ultimate Arts. 114 117 |
| Grandmaster forces | During the mystic-realm conflict, the temple fielded ten Flawless True Core Grandmasters, more than a hundred Condensation Origin Grandmasters, and several hundred Innate Realm Grandmasters. 123 |
Organization
Leadership
- Jiang Changkong — Temple Master and grandfather of Jiang Daoxuan. He restrained calls for an immediate war with Guiyuan Sect, then pursued Chen Xuan’s assassination through the Heavenly Demon Sect. Chen Xuan later killed him during the Venerable-Realm battle. 127 146
- Jiang Daoxuan — Dao Child and the temple’s greatest prodigy in centuries. He possessed a Spirit Body bloodline, cultivated the Subduing Dragon True Scripture, refined an Immortal Golden Core, and wielded the Subduing Dragon Hand. Chen Xuan killed him with the Five Elements Annihilation Divine Blade. 118 125
- Han Zhenshan — Flawless True Core Grandmaster and master of the Ultimate Art Heaven-Splitting Palm. He led the encirclement of Guiyuan Sect’s Grandmasters and demanded Chen Xuan kill himself. 121
- First Elder — Carried out Jiang Changkong’s order to contact the Heavenly Demon Sect and offer true dragon essence blood for Chen Xuan’s death. 127
Notable Disciples
- Zhao Jingang — One of the temple’s three leading young Grandmasters. His completed Indestructible Vajra Body was considered among the temple’s strongest body-tempering Ultimate Arts, but Chen Xuan killed him and seized eight token seals. 117
- Liu Wuhen — Specialized in the Ultimate Art movement technique Wind-Thunder Escape. Despite his exceptional speed, he was killed by Chen Xuan’s Five Elements Annihilation Divine Blade. 117
- Qin Yuan — The remaining leading young Grandmaster after Zhao Jingang’s death. He chose to avoid Chen Xuan after recognizing the overwhelming gap between them. 117
Story Role
Heavenly Net Mountains Contest
Subduing Dragon Temple contested the newly discovered Mid-Grade Mystic Realm against the alliance of Guiyuan Sect, Ten Thousand Sword Villa, and the Blood Fiend Devil Sect. Because an all-out war was prohibited, the dispute was settled through a month-long token competition divided into disciple and Grandmaster battlefields. 113 115
The temple entered the disciple battlefield with more than ten thousand participants, greatly outnumbering the allied factions. Its numerical advantage initially allowed its disciples to overwhelm isolated opponents and secure more token seals. 115
Loss of the Young Generation
Chen Xuan killed Zhao Jingang, then pursued the temple’s remaining leaders to seize their token seals. Liu Wuhen attempted to flee after recognizing Chen Xuan’s superior speed, but was annihilated by the Five Elements Annihilation Divine Blade. Chen Xuan held thirty-two tokens after taking Liu’s eleven seals. 117
Alarmed by the deaths of Zhao Jingang and Liu Wuhen, the temple recruited Seven Kill Sect master Xiao Yi. It promised to absorb and protect the Seven Kill Sect if Xiao Yi killed Chen Xuan. 117 118
Xiao Yi failed to penetrate Chen Xuan’s Five-Elements Canopy Treasure Umbrella, and his blood-based techniques were suppressed by the Five Elements Destruction Domain. His death left the temple’s disciple force leaderless and allowed the Three Great Sects to seize nearly all disciple-zone tokens. 118 120
Grandmaster Battlefield Escalation
Unable to defeat Chen Xuan through its younger disciples, Subduing Dragon Temple concentrated its Grandmaster forces against Guiyuan Sect. It killed more than thirty Guiyuan Grandmasters and severely wounded Sword Peak Head Lei Zhen in a three-on-one ambush. 120 121
The temple encircled Guiyuan Sect and Ten Thousand Sword Villa Grandmasters with several hundred combatants. It offered the Blood Fiend Devil Sect safe withdrawal, causing the alliance to fracture, while threatening to slaughter all remaining Grandmasters below the Flawless True Core level. 122
Chen Xuan entered the Grandmaster battlefield to rescue Lei Zhen and the trapped allies. The temple’s combined assault—including ten Flawless True Core Grandmasters and hundreds of additional Grandmasters—could not damage him beneath the Five-Elements Canopy Treasure Umbrella. 123
Death of Jiang Daoxuan
Chen Xuan intentionally withheld his offense until Jiang Daoxuan emerged from seclusion with an Immortal Golden Core. Jiang attempted to force Chen Xuan’s submission by threatening the trapped Guiyuan Sect Grandmasters, but Chen Xuan revealed his own superior Immortal Golden Core. 124
Chen Xuan killed Jiang Daoxuan in a single strike, then used the Five Elements Life-Death Domain and Great Thunder Sound Sword Technique to annihilate several hundred Subduing Dragon Temple Grandmasters. The battle transformed the contest into an irreconcilable blood feud. 125
Retaliation and Destruction
After Jiang Daoxuan’s death, Jiang Changkong rejected a reckless direct assault on Guiyuan Sect because of its Venerable-level defenses and hidden foundations. Instead, he authorized the use of the temple’s final true dragon essence blood to hire the Heavenly Demon Sect to assassinate Chen Xuan. 127
Subduing Dragon Temple later joined Heavenly Demon Sect Heavenly King Mo Yuan in attacking Chen Xuan. Chen Xuan killed Mo Yuan, destroyed the Black Dragon Sword, and cut Jiang Changkong in half. 146
Chen Xuan then traveled alone to Dragonhead Mountain. He broke the Venerable-level sect-protecting formation with a single blade aura and dropped a condensed sphere of chaotic power onto the main peak. The temple, its elders, its disciples, and its structures were dissolved in one breath, leaving only a mirror-smooth expanse of rock. 146
Relationships
- Guiyuan Sect — Principal enemy during the Heavenly Net Mountains conflict; the feud became irreversible after Chen Xuan killed Jiang Daoxuan and hundreds of temple Grandmasters. 113 125
- Chen Xuan — The temple’s primary adversary. It lost its leading young disciples, Dao Child, Temple Master, inherited weapon, and ultimately its entire sect to him. 117 125 146
- Ten Thousand Sword Villa — Opposed the temple as part of the Three Great Sects Alliance and remained beside Guiyuan Sect when the Blood Fiend Devil Sect withdrew. 113 122
- Blood Fiend Devil Sect — Initially opposed the temple in the mystic-realm contest, but withdrew from the Grandmaster battlefield after the temple offered safe passage. 113 122
- Seven Kill Sect — The temple offered to absorb the sect in exchange for Xiao Yi’s assassination of Chen Xuan. 117 118
- Heavenly Demon Sect — Hired to assassinate Chen Xuan in exchange for true dragon essence blood; the temple later directly collaborated with Mo Yuan against him. 127 146
- Martial Alliance — Its referee, Gongsun Wuji, restrained immediate retaliation after the Grandmaster massacre, while the alliance later regarded the temple’s collaboration with the Heavenly Demon Sect as grounds for its destruction. 125 146
