Torifu turned his head and smiled too. "That's right. This is a generation full of geniuses. I'll have to make sure they all grow into capable shinobi."
Chirori took Torifu's hand. "I'll help you, too."
Although Torifu would be stepping down as Hokage soon, he would continue to keep an eye on the village's young shinobi.
It was one of the few things he genuinely enjoyed. Watching the children grow into excellent shinobi filled him with pride.
As this batch of shinobi came of age, a new generation of children was born. With one generation following another, Konoha would continue to prosper.
More importantly, these children were all the main characters of Naruto!
If he could personally train the protagonists into excellent shinobi, that would make things a lot more fun for Torifu.
Still, it would be another five or six years before the new generation of shinobi began training in earnest.
Until then, Torifu could only keep an eye on the batch of shinobi who had just graduated.
They were all children of his old friends, like Yuhi Kurenai, Asuma, and Kakashi.
It would only be natural for Torifu to teach them.
After retirement, he could enjoy a peaceful life. But a life still needed to have a little fun in it.
A life that was too dull and repetitive held no appeal for Torifu.
He had to find something to amuse himself.
"The succession ceremony is the day after tomorrow. Why are you thinking about going on a mission now?" Chirori shook her head.
Torifu laughed. "Who cares? We'll just enjoy our own lives and leave the rest to the younger generation."
Torifu stretched out on the rocking chair.
Chirori thought about it and realized he was right. Konoha would soon be under Minato's management, anyway.
