Background

Minato was an orphan whose parents had died. Kakuzu found him and brought him to Konoha, where Torifu immediately recognized his name and took responsibility for him. He became a legal citizen of Konoha and was accepted as Torifu's disciple and a member of the Kumonaka household. 232 234 236

Initially, Minato was shy, reserved, and conscious of his status as a commoner. He struggled to see himself as an equal to Kushina, the Uzumaki princess, despite being encouraged to befriend her. 242 246

Torifu trained Minato privately after he refined Chakra with extraordinary speed. His Academy studies went well, and he quickly developed confidence in both his abilities and his place in Konoha. 249
