Background / History

Adam is the eldest son of the Ancient Sun God and a King of Angels. He intends to resurrect the Ancient Sun God within himself, making knowledge of him dangerous enough that Klein seeks Evernight’s protection after learning it 129. Cyril also recognizes him as the Ancient Sun God’s divine incarnation, and Adam describes his understanding of Amon in explicitly paternal terms 2 10.

He first answers Cyril’s call when Cyril is overwhelmed by the High-Dimensional Overseer’s influence. Adam suppresses the anomalies and explains that Cyril’s connection to the Outer Deity can persist through Oldest One’s barrier if both sides consent 1. He then advises Cyril to acquire enough power to resist being consumed when the barrier fails 2.

After guiding Cyril toward the Door pathway, Adam recruits him into the Twilight Hermit Order, grants him a fate-mitigating Tarot deck, and asks him to join the Tarot Club when appropriate 10. He repeatedly assigns Cyril missions tied to the Mirror World, Medici’s evil spirit, the Western Continent, and the City of Cataclysm 30 111 240 258.

Adam learns about a possible future through Cyril’s memories. He considers the events in those memories a relatively good ending and initially intends to advance them without worsening their outcome, reserving more substantial changes until after becoming a Visionary 10. As Outer Deity infiltration increases, he discusses the need for a Lord of the Mysteries or God Almighty with Concealment. He gives a two-year timetable for either his own godhood or the establishment of a new Sequence 0, without specifying which, and asks for assistance in killing Aucuses and Cheek 18.

His interest in the Red Priest and Demoness pathways predates Cyril’s investigations. Amon recalls Adam working with Tudor to kill Medici, Sauron, and Einhorn, enabling Tudor to become the Sequence 0 Red Priest, and subsequently bringing Tudor and Cheek together. Adam explains that these pathways represent the Oldest One’s positive and negative domains and may contain a means of His resurrection 258.

Adam later reveals that his own thoughts and actions can be influenced by Primordial God Almighty’s residual will. He describes high-sequence Beyonders as continually both resisting and merging with the madness in their characteristics, rather than remaining completely separate from the spiritual imprints within them 364.

By the time Cyril encounters Ariehogg, Adam’s approaching godhood is considered a threat to the fragile balance among the five God Almighty pathways. Ariehogg states that even with Edefana’s assistance, he cannot face Adam 385. Adam subsequently helps Cyril manage the Die of Probability, advises him on the Secrets Sorcerer advancement ritual, and appears within Cyril’s replicated cathedral during the confrontation at Admiral Amyrius’s villa 410 423 427.

Appearance

Adam most often appears as a gentle blond priest in plain white robes, with clear golden eyes and a calm smile 1 10.

Adam explains that an Angel’s human appearance is a disguise used for communication and the preservation of humanity. Clothing may be either an appearance or a real object, while habits such as bathing and changing clothes can help Angels maintain their humanity 111.

Personality

Adam maintains a consistently mild, patient manner even when discussing corruption, divine conflict, assassination, or the sacrifice of Beyonder characteristics. He often answers Cyril’s questions directly, but withholds information whenever he considers it premature or unnecessary 29 30 188.

His gentleness is inseparable from his manipulation. Adam studies Cyril’s abilities through engineered scenarios, implants psychological suggestions, adjusts memories, and writes “reasonable” scripts that guide events toward desired outcomes 73 186 240. He acknowledges that even an Author cannot make every event unfold according to his will and must accept compromises 29.

Despite his strategic treatment of others, Adam shows genuine concern for Amon’s growth. He states that he values Amon becoming a light in the coming Doomsday more than simply seeing him succeed 10.

Adam can acknowledge his own limitations and the possibility that his reasoning has been influenced. When Cyril suggests that his proposal for a new Lord of the Mysteries may originate from Primordial God Almighty, Adam pauses, becomes more serious, and accepts that explanation as possible 364.

He prioritizes Cyril’s advancement over routine investigations into Outer Deity believers, explaining that others can investigate them while Cyril’s growth is more important 328. Nevertheless, his willingness to offer information or support does not eliminate his tendency to steer Cyril’s choices: he eventually admits to changing the order of Cyril’s original Tarot draw to encourage the Door pathway 364.

He makes it fear and feel anxious about the future so that it cooperates with Cyril, and claims that, except for Evernight, the other six Orthodox Gods cannot precisely locate it. He can move it before they arrive, but leaves it outside his possession because his advancement ritual is unfinished 98.

His scriptwriting is not equivalent to comprehensive authority over Fate. After the Goddess of Fate notices Cyril, Adam states that the Visionary pathway has nothing to do with Fate and recommends seeking the True Creator, Ouroboros, or Will Auceptin instead 137.

Cathedral of Bones

The Cathedral of Bones serves as Adam’s gathering place, sanctuary, and controlled environment. It is also referred to as the Corpse Cathedral or Bone Church 30 186.

Die of Probability and the Key of Light

Adam explains that the Key of Light embodies return, Fate, and chaos rather than the entirety of Fate. Cyril violates the universe’s instinct to return to its source but also embodies chaos, giving the Key of Light reasons both to correct him and to cooperate with him as a means of resisting its own final return 410.

He tells Cyril that characteristics already accommodated and digested completely belong to him and cannot be forcibly stripped away even by the Lord of the Mysteries. Unlike an ordinary Door-pathway Beyonder, Cyril may therefore be able to further accommodate the Die of Probability without an unavoidable pathway conflict, provided the Key of Light cooperates. Adam adds that sufficient luck could preserve a minimum level of stability even in the worst case 410.

Secrets Sorcerer Advancement and Primordial Hunger

Adam rejects the characteristic within the Box of the Great Old Ones as a good Secrets Sorcerer ritual target because it lacks sufficient intelligence to develop clear hostility. Giving it a personality would instead expose it to Primordial Hunger’s influence and fill it with insatiable hunger, which would still be unsuitable 423.

He warns Cyril not to carry the box casually because its devouring and convergence traits could draw him into the cosmos. However, those same traits might be used deliberately to seize more power from the High-Dimensional Overseer. Extracting and resealing Primordial Hunger’s power is possible, but would still require a Planeswalker, Miracle Invoker, or Trojan Horse of Fate characteristic 423.
