Arc 11Bansy’s Calamity

Cyril investigated the corrupted God of Weather on Bansy Island, negotiated with Tobias, and learned that the City of Calamity’s influence remained unresolved. After returning to Bayam, he built his Randolph Carter identity while pursuing new leads, and the Sea King’s attack left him investigating Dimitri’s mysterious music box.

  • Cyril entered the Mirror World with the Red Priest card, survived interference from powerful beings, and found a chained giant who revealed the Weather Warlock formula and pleaded for Bansy Island’s destruction.
  • Cyril met Adam, investigated the God of Weather’s corrupted dream, and negotiated with its separated personality Tobias while Edefana began separating the God’s consciousness.
  • Cyril and Tobias disrupted a nearly completed blood sacrifice by invoking the Lord of Storms, but Cyril learned that the God of Weather and the City of Calamity’s pollution remained a threat.
  • Cyril rescued Steve and his damaged Painting Scroll, returned to Backlund, and later shared what he knew about Bansy Island with the Tarot Club and Ohaiz.
  • Cyril arranged for Hermes to implant a psychological suggestion in Ohaiz, then worked with Klein to address the dangerous information and nightmares caused by the Red Priest card.
  • Cyril fought Jorg and Mavity in Bayam, killed Jorg, wounded Mavity, and gained a Sequence 7 Seafarer characteristic and a corrupting Sequence 6 glove.
  • Fors advanced to Trickmaster while Cyril investigated Bayam’s unrest and watched the Sea King destroy pirates gathered outside the harbor.
  • Cyril escaped into the Mirror World after Dimitri put a Church of Storms enforcer to sleep, then investigated the music box Dimitri had left behind and considered trading it to the Moses Ascetic Order.
Chapters 252–276 Vol. 3 Read

Ch. 252A Sham Ritual

Cyril used a sham ritual to retrieve the Red Priest card from above the Gray Fog, then followed its resonance through the Mirror World toward the source of the influence affecting Bansy Harbor. He arrived in a bizarre modern city, where its headless inhabitants turned to stare at the card.

  • Cyril prayed to the Fool, and Klein sent a Paper Angel to protect him from the Mirror World's red influence.
  • Cyril explained that he needed the Red Priest card to locate the source of the pollution, then conjured a fake ritual with Fantasy made real.
  • Cyril performed the ritual and received the Red Priest card; he interrupted the ritual without properly closing it, drawing Klein's complaint.
  • Cyril activated the card and sensed two nearby High Sequence presences; a malicious gaze targeted him, but Klein's Paper Angel shielded him.
  • Cyril traveled through several illusory doors in the Mirror World and reached a strange modern city filled with headless people, who stared at the Red Priest card.

Ch. 253People in Big Cities Are So Cold...

Cyril escaped a collapsing Mirror World into a ritual site on Bansy Island, where an unknown power attacked him and disrupted his abilities. He returned to the Mirror World to evade the assault, and Klein saw a hole in its dark sky revealing the gray-white mist beyond.

  • Klein warned Cyril and Cyril escaped the collapsing Mirror World through a mirror into an abandoned cabin on Bansy Island, where God of Weather cultists were performing a ritual.
  • Cyril used a recorded gale to scatter the cultists and discovered that the cabin stood at the center of a vortex-shaped forest, but a blood-red lightning bolt made him lose control and redirected his Flash.
  • Two towering Angels appeared as a high-level power interfered with Klein's gaze and Cyril's abilities; Cyril's attempt to Teleport failed, and blazing-white spears engulfed the cabin in fire.
  • Cyril returned to the Mirror World, greeted the heads aboard a trolleybus, then Flash-ed across the street after they ignored him.
  • Klein regained contact with Cyril and asked why he had returned; Cyril pointed out a hole in the Mirror World's dark sky, through which Klein saw the gray-white mist.

Ch. 254Dangerous Man

Cyril escaped the Mirror World and slaughtered the God of Weather’s followers before confronting the Deep Blue Church’s bishop. As the bishop changed into a weapon-like figure and a dark vortex drew them in, Cyril suspected the God of Weather was trapped in the Mirror World.

  • Cyril met a charming woman in a rickshaw in the Mirror World, but fled when cracks spread across it.
  • Cyril emerged from the burned hut, blinded the God of Weather’s followers, and killed them with gunfire and dawnlight.
  • The Deep Blue Church’s bishop attacked Cyril with flaming wind blades and fireballs, but Cyril’s altered body let the attacks pass through him.
  • Cyril taunted the bishop and sensed the God of Weather’s presence, suspecting it was trapped in the Mirror World and using blood sacrifices to escape.
  • Dark mist formed a vortex around Cyril and the bishop, while the bishop transformed into a savage, weapon-like figure.

Ch. 255Monocle

Cyril fought the Deep Blue Church bishop while pollution from the God of Weather and the City of Calamity threatened to overwhelm him. After the bishop’s offer to trade was rejected, a charred corpse wearing a monocle revealed Amon’s presence and greeted Mr. Fool, who severed his connection to Cyril.

  • The bishop’s attack and the combined pollution nearly drove Cyril from his dimension, but a silver-winged Angel rewound events and Klein warned him to run if he could not win.
  • Cyril used Long-range Bombardment, Mental Piercing, Air Bullets, and paper knives to damage the bishop and destroy the forest’s ritual effects.
  • The bishop split into flames and escaped Cyril’s attacks while the God of Weather watched from somewhere nearby.
  • A charred corpse offered Cyril a trade and demanded that he leave, but Cyril put on a monocle and refused, causing the corpse to lose its strange properties and shatter.
  • Another charred corpse rose wearing a monocle, greeted Mr. Fool, and prompted Klein to cut off his connection to Cyril.
  • The corpse mocked Cyril by saying that Mr. Fool had abandoned him and run away.

Ch. 256The Card of Blasphemy's Changes

Cyril defeated Amon’s avatar with Hermes’s help, then searched for the missing mirror and found another way into the strange Mirror World. There, the Red Priest card revealed new information about the Above the Sequence, and Cyril suspected the City of Calamity had transmitted it through their connection.

  • Cyril cut down Amon’s avatar after Hermes concealed himself and affected Amon, and Hermes warned Cyril against imitating Amon with a monocle.
  • Cyril contacted Klein, who confirmed he could not see clearly through the interference and advised Cyril to use the Red Priest card another time.
  • Cyril searched the burned hut for the Mirror World mirror but found nothing, and he suspected Amon had stolen it.
  • Cyril used the Red Priest card and Crystal Ball to sense two bright stars, then meditated until he recovered some Spirituality.
  • Cyril formed an ice door that led into the Mirror World and entered a deeper part of it.
  • Cyril discovered that the Red Priest card now listed the ingredients and advancement method for the Potions of Calamity of Destruction and Origins of Disaster.

Ch. 257God of Weather (I split up the extra content and put it into these three chapters)

Cyril encountered the bound, corrupted God of Weather in Bansy’s Mirror World and became linked to him after accepting the Red Priest card’s payment. Back in Backlund, Cyril explained his theory about the City of Calamity’s influence on Bansy Island to Adam.

  • Cyril followed the Red Priest card’s pull to a plaza, where the qipao-clad young woman urged him to help someone named Tobias.
  • Cyril saw a chained giant on a stele, learned the Weather Warlock Sequence 2 formula, and heard the giant plead to be killed and Bansy destroyed.
  • The young woman said the giant would cling to Cyril through the connection created by his payment, then restored Cyril’s Door Opening ability so he could leave the Mirror World.
  • In Tiana Port, Elland sent Randolph Carter’s portrait and information to Bayam and decided to visit the local Storm Church about the blood sacrifice.
  • Back in Backlund, Cyril met Adam in the Corpse Cathedral and described how the City of Calamity’s corruption might be affecting Bansy Island and its God of Weather.

Ch. 258Amon and Adam

Cyril completed the first stage of Adam’s mission and arranged a chance to obtain a Conqueror Beyonder Characteristic, while Amon tried to bargain with Adam for information about the City of Calamity. Later, Owen, Lawrence, and Verdu discussed surviving the full moon and the Abraham Family’s need for protection, leaving Owen to continue preparing for advancement.

  • Cyril learned that the next stage of Adam’s mission was to investigate the awakened will of the City of Calamity and Chi’s stance, then asked Adam to arrange an opportunity to obtain a Conqueror Beyonder Characteristic.
  • Adam granted Cyril a Demigod-level Psychological Invisibility, and Cyril recorded the Dawn Knight ability again at Harvest Cathedral before returning home.
  • Amon offered Adam the City of Calamity in exchange for help finding Pallez, but Adam only promised to reveal the relevant secrets when the era reached a critical point.
  • During the full moon, Cyril protected Owen, Lawrence, and Verdu with Black Curtains until its effects faded.
  • Owen, Lawrence, and Verdu discussed bringing their full-moon survival method to the Council of Elders and the Abraham Family’s need for a high-Sequence protector.
  • Owen explained his Clown potion progress and the materials he still needed for Magician, and Verdu offered to take him to hunt an Evil-Patterned Black Panther.

Ch. 259"Sea King"

“Sea King” Jahn Kottman arrived in Bansy Harbor and uncovered signs of serious trouble at the Church of Storms as Mandated Punishers attacked Randolph Carter. Randolph escaped with help from Cyril, while Jahn identified the fugitive as a Dream Weaver.

  • Jahn Kottman questioned the priest on duty about Bishop Miller, the bloody sacrifices, and the unreported intruder, then prayed to the Lord of Storms.
  • Randolph woke from a nightmare and discovered that Mandated Punishers had come to attack him, but he used Steve and the Painting Scroll to fend them off.
  • Hermes warned Randolph that Jahn was pursuing him and that Gade II might soon arrive to cleanse Bansy, so Randolph prepared to flee.
  • Randolph used Steve and the paintings to daze the attackers and escape to the inn’s first floor, where Cyril arrived through an Illusory Door.
  • Jahn searched the harbor, summoned lightning, and identified Randolph as a Dream Weaver.

Ch. 260The Dream

Cyril returned Randolph Carter to himself, then deliberately entered a dream with Edefana waiting for a possible visitor. In the dream, Edefana revealed a corrupted Weather Warlock in the City of Miracles, Liveseyd, who had been taken over by another consciousness and could not be saved.

  • Cyril summoned Edefana and had him merge Randolph Carter back into himself, sensing that someone had painted Randolph’s portrait near Tiana Island.
  • Cyril asked Edefana to wait in his dream for a possible guest, then activated the Red Priest card and fell asleep.
  • Cyril became trapped in a burning red dream before a bloodied Flame Giant called for him to come and kill it.
  • A Great Dragon’s roar transformed the scene into the City of Miracles, Liveseyd, where numerous Great Dragons gathered around the Flame Giant.
  • Edefana arrived in his Great Dragon form and explained that the Flame Giant was a corrupted Weather Warlock whose body, mind, and Beyonder Characteristic had been taken over, leaving him beyond saving.

Ch. 261Conversation

Cyril negotiated with the corrupted God of Weather, who agreed to surrender his identity and power in exchange for a chance at salvation and a temporary loss of freedom. Edefana brought Cyril into the God of Weather’s dream to bargain with the hostile consciousness within him, where the dream’s heat intensified before Edefana’s roar calmed it.

  • The Flame Giant accepted Cyril’s terms, including giving up his God of Weather identity, angelic status, and power, and serving for about fourteen or fifteen years.
  • Edefana explained that separating the God of Weather’s consciousness would be very dangerous, so Cyril decided to seek an agreement with the other consciousness in the God of Weather’s dream.
  • Edefana carried Cyril through a fantastical ocean of lights and into the God of Weather’s scorched, ruined dream.
  • Cyril walked through a plaza of ancient gravestones and found the Terror Giant chained above a dark lake, facing a twisted reflection that claimed to be him.
  • Cyril warned the Terror Giant that the Lord of Storms and the pope from Pasu Island would soon threaten Bansy Island, but the Terror Giant accused him of making a threat and made the dream boil with heat.
  • Edefana roared, and the boiling dream gradually calmed.

Ch. 262Both Bloated and Stupid

Cyril secured the God of Weather’s agreement to let Edefana separate his personalities, while Jahn Kottman investigated the pictures Cyril had distributed around Bansy. Edefana began the separation after the God of Weather handed over a corrupted War Bishop Beyonder Characteristic and explained his devotion to the City of Calamity.

  • Cyril warned the God of Weather that he would leave Bansy unless they agreed to a deal, and the God of Weather accepted with the City of Calamity as witness.
  • Edefana arrived in the dream and swore an oath before the God of Weather, who had raised a stone stele and unleashed disasters across the dreamscape.
  • Jahn Kottman learned that the damaged pictures had gone to people connected to bloody sacrifices, and he suspected their painter was concealing his purpose in Bansy.
  • In the Mirror World, Edefana explained how he would separate the God of Weather’s personalities, while the God of Weather insisted that both carried the City of Calamity’s corruption.
  • The God of Weather gave Cyril a corrupted War Bishop Beyonder Characteristic, described his Lord as the Calamity of Destruction, and Edefana began separating a younger version of him.

Ch. 263Action

Cyril and Tobias traveled to a hidden ritual plaza beneath Bansy Harbor to reach the Rift of Rules and prepare to act against the God of Weather’s corruption. As the cultists’ ritual neared completion, Jahn Kottman arrived nearby, while Cyril and Tobias remained concealed.

  • The God of Weather taunted Tobias, who had separated from him, and insisted that they would eventually merge again.
  • Hermes visited Cyril’s cabin, questioned Steve about Randolph Carter and other Angels, then left to search the island; Alger redirected his ship toward Bansy Island.
  • Tobias told Cyril that an altar left by his former self could connect them to the Rift of Rules, and signed a contract with Cyril lasting until the Apocalypse.
  • Cyril took Tobias through an Illusory Door into Bansy Harbor and concealed them with Psychological Invisibility.
  • Cyril and Tobias reached the edge of a ritual plaza, where God of Weather believers, including two Medici descendants, performed a ritual that was nearly complete.
  • Jahn Kottman arrived at the street above the plaza with a brass-colored nautical clock and noted the God of Weather’s cultists were active.

Ch. 264Lord of Storms' Lightning Strike

Cyril and Tobias escaped the destruction of the God of Weather’s ritual site after the Lord of Storms struck, but Cyril learned that the God of Weather and the City of Calamity remained intact. The chapter ended with Steve’s Painting Scroll badly damaged and fading.

  • Cyril used a Painting Scroll to invoke the Lord of Storms, prompting a red-haired follower of the God of Weather to attack the papers and Steve.
  • The Lord of Storms’ lightning killed the red-haired man and annihilated the underground plaza, while Cyril and Tobias escaped through an illusory door.
  • Jahn Kottman arrived at the devastated site, and Alger and his crew felt the terrifying force of the lightning from Bansi Harbor.
  • Cyril’s Divination revealed that the God of Weather had survived and the pollution from the City of Calamity remained unresolved.
  • Tobias explained that the God of Weather had separated him to strengthen his own connection to the City of Calamity, which might itself be in trouble.
  • Steve pleaded for help as his Painting Scroll, scorched by flames and lightning, began to fade and break apart.

Ch. 265An attempt above the dimensions

Cyril used a ritual to bring Steve above the dimensions, restored the Painting Scroll, and returned it with Steve intact. He and Tobias planned to leave Bansi for Backlund, while Klein discovered that the Red Priest pathway led to a higher level called Calamity of Destruction.

  • Steve asked Cyril to preserve his mind and memories, and Cyril said he might still be able to save him.
  • Cyril opened a ritual gate above the dimensions, brought Steve and the damaged Painting Scroll through, and restored the scroll with his spirituality.
  • Cyril returned Steve to reality and told Tobias he planned to leave Bansi for Backlund; Tobias agreed to go and asked him to watch for uncontaminated Hunter pathway ingredients.
  • Cyril told Tobias he could reclaim the War Bishop characteristic if they found a way to balance its corruption, but Tobias preferred to advance afresh.
  • Klein examined the Red Priest card and discovered the Calamity of Destruction potion ingredients and ritual, realizing he had uncovered a secret about the world's highest level.

Ch. 266Monday's Gathering

Cyril arrived in Bayam to contact the Moses Ascetic Order while storing the corrupted Red Priest card above the Gray Fog. At the Tarot Club gathering, the members discussed trades and Alger reported that a blood sacrifice and the Church of Storms’ response had devastated Bansi Island.

  • Cyril explained to Klein that the Red Priest card’s corruption had appeared as information and that its gathering effect made it dangerous to carry, so Klein kept it above the Gray Fog.
  • Cyril reached Bayam, disguised himself, and used a coded drink and message at the Fragrant Leaf Bar to contact Born Walker’s superior.
  • Cyril returned to his inn, prepared a Wall of Spirituality, and joined the Tarot Club gathering.
  • Audrey traded two pages of Roselle’s Diary for Mr. Fool’s protection during the final round of her Psychology Alchemists’ assessment.
  • Fors arranged to trade cash with Cyril for a Spirit Eater’s Stomach, while Alger offered news from Bansi instead of a trade item.
  • Alger reported that the Church of Storms had sent the Sea King to Bansi, where a corrupted Deep Blue Church bishop had participated in a revived blood sacrifice and an Angel-level force had apparently struck.

Ch. 267The More Mad They Were, the Stronger They Became

At the Tarot Club, Cyril explained that Bansi Island’s bloody sacrifices stemmed from the corrupted God of Weather, whose recovery had made him more powerful than Gade II. The meeting ended with the Fool warning that madness and corruption could increase one’s strength, prompting Derrick to wonder about the secret history of the Ancient Gods and the Almighty.

  • Alger described the Church of Storms’ search on Bansi Island and the disruption to the Rorsted Archipelago, while Cyril warned that the island’s deeper problems might remain unresolved without the Lord of Storms’ direct intervention.
  • Cyril refused to reveal more about Bansi Island without payment and asked the Tarot Club to find Hunter Pathway characteristics and materials from Sequence 9 to Sequence 5; the members offered to help.
  • The World asked Derrick to research the Eight Ancient Gods’ authorities, powers, and characteristics, offering information about outside True Deities or evil gods in return.
  • Cyril explained that the corrupted God of Weather had influenced Bansi Island’s former worship and secretly turned the local Storms bishop into a cultist, and said the God’s recent recovery made him stronger than Gade II.
  • The Fool said that the madder they were, the stronger they became, and added that corruption could also be drawn upon as power; Derrick wondered whether this revealed a deeper secret about the Almighty.

Ch. 268The Moses Ascetic Order

At the Tarot Club, the members discussed the Almighty and the strange weather on Bansy Island before the gathering ended. Back in Bayam, Cyril met Ohaiz of the Moses Ascetic Order, who offered him Reader Potion ingredients and asked him to record what he had learned.

  • Klein suggested that the Almighty stood above the ancient gods, and Derrick recited the full Honorific Name worshipped by the City of Silver.
  • Alger described Bansy Island's unusually calm weather, while Cyril speculated that the God of Weather remained there and might be restrained by the Church of Storms.
  • After the Tarot Club ended, Cyril considered changing identities in Bayam, but sunlight and a golden carriage announced Ohaiz's arrival.
  • Ohaiz asked Cyril about the God of Weather, the Medici Family, and an ancient book; Cyril claimed he had digested the Mystery Pryer Potion and could recall only fragments of the book.
  • Ohaiz told Cyril to write down the secrets and remembered knowledge, then cast a Night Veil over the room as Cyril began writing.

Ch. 269That Costs Extra

Cyril negotiated Hermes’s help influencing Ohaiz in exchange for information about Bansy Island and a future favor, then learned that Klein’s nightmare came from contamination carried by the Red Priest Card. They agreed to use a Spectator’s hypnosis to make Klein forget the dangerous information.

  • Cyril gave Ohaiz information from Bansy Island, and Ohaiz offered the Warlock potion after Cyril copied the ancient book’s knowledge.
  • Cyril negotiated with Hermes for a psychological suggestion affecting Ohaiz, trading Bansy Island secrets and a future favor for the help.
  • Ohaiz delivered the Melee Scholar potion ingredients and gave Cyril an address for sending the copied knowledge.
  • Hermes implanted the requested suggestion in Ohaiz, and Cyril told him the true secrets of Bansy Island.
  • Klein awoke from a nightmare, traced its source to the Red Priest Card, and met Cyril above the Gray Fog to discuss the contamination.
  • Cyril proposed recording a Spectator’s hypnosis to make Klein forget the dangerous information, and planned to seek one the next day.

Ch. 270Fighting Poison with Poison

Cyril brought a living Painting Scroll to life, translated Roselle’s Diary for Bernadette, and helped Edefana counter the Chaos Sea’s contamination with another contamination. After recording Edefana’s abilities, Cyril heard that Admiral of Iceberg’s Golden Dream was being hunted over a treasure key.

  • Cyril poured a failed potion onto his Painting Scroll, bringing its eye-covered creature to life, and Steve introduced himself as its senior servant.
  • Cyril visited Bernadette, translated Roselle’s Diary, taught Chinese characters, and recorded the Mystical Reenactment of Ugly Duckling with her.
  • Cyril summoned Edefana, who explained that City of Calamity contamination had eased the Chaos Sea’s influence but worsened his physical condition.
  • Cyril used his starlight power against Edefana’s dragon-form contamination, creating a temporary deadlock that left Edefana feeling more relaxed but looking older.
  • Cyril asked Edefana to record several mental abilities, including Demigod-level Mind Deprivation or Spiritual Breath, and Edefana agreed.
  • At the Fragrant Leaf Bar, Cyril heard that Admiral of Blood’s Tree of Flesh and Blood was pursuing Admiral of Iceberg’s Golden Dream for a Giants’ treasure key.

Ch. 2715000 Pounds

Cyril confronted “Great Shark” Jorg in a Bayam bar, where their argument turned into a fight after Jorg’s gauntlet distorted Cyril’s emotions. Cyril outmaneuvered and fatally wounded Jorg, leaving the bar in chaos.

  • Cyril and Jorg compared their bounties, while “Iron” Mavity entered the bar and challenged them both before heading toward its back room.
  • Jorg’s black gauntlet stirred aggressive impulses in Cyril, who resisted the effect until the two began fighting.
  • Cyril evaded Jorg’s gauntlet strike and used a Flash to blind everyone in the bar.
  • Cyril used Combat Hypnosis, the Interrogator Ring, and a Sword of Dawn to pierce Jorg and leave him dying.

Ch. 272Decisive Escape

Cyril killed “Great Shark” Jorg and fought “Iron” Mavity at Fragrant Leaf Bar, forcing Mavity to flee while building the reputation of his Randolph Carter identity. He returned to his inn with Jorg’s Beyonder Characteristic and black glove, whose origins and powers he learned through divination.

  • Cyril killed Jorg with the Sword of Dawn and arranged for the bar owner to exchange Jorg’s head for the bounty and cover the bar’s damages.
  • Mavity summoned ghosts and attacked Cyril, but Cyril dispelled the spirits and used his Dawn Armor to withstand Mavity’s deathly strike.
  • Cyril used a Paper Figurine Substitute to evade Mavity’s charge, then wounded him with Mental Piercing and the Sword of Dawn.
  • Mavity fled through the crowd, and Cyril let him escape, expecting him to spread word of Randolph Carter’s power.
  • Cyril collected Jorg’s Beyonder Characteristic and black glove, then returned to his inn through the Mirror World.
  • Cyril divined that the crystal held a Sequence 7 Seafarer characteristic and the glove a Sequence 6 Baron of Corruption characteristic, with powers that could darken and corrupt its wearer.

Ch. 273Technical Guidance

Cyril reflected on the Seafarer glove’s mental corruption, then created Randolph Carter from a portrait and summoned Klein and Audrey to arrange guidance for hypnotizing Klein. Meanwhile, Fors prepared to advance to Trickmaster after finishing her manuscripts and began mixing the potion.

  • Cyril stored the Seafarer Beyonder Characteristic and glove, then brought Randolph Carter to life from a portrait, but sent him back when he proved unable to paint.
  • Cyril met Klein above the Gray Fog and offered to use his recorded Spectator hypnosis ability to make Klein forget part of the Red Priest card’s contents.
  • Klein summoned Audrey, and she agreed to provide theoretical guidance while Cyril prepared to hypnotize Klein.
  • Fors told Xio she planned to advance that night and explained her connection to her teacher Lawrence and her desire to understand the Full Moon Ravings.
  • Fors took out the Spirit Eater’s Stomach and her other prepared ingredients, then mixed them into the Trickmaster Potion.

Ch. 2748000 Pounds

Fors prayed to Mr. Fool before advancing, while Klein learned from Cyril about the abilities and weaknesses of Desire Apostles. The next morning, Cyril saw his new 8,000-pound bounty in the paper and passed a sheriff’s registration search in Bayam, where officials were looking for an unidentified dangerous person.

  • Fors worried that her colorful Trickmaster Potion might have been prepared incorrectly and prayed to Mr. Fool for good luck before advancing.
  • Klein asked Cyril about Desire Apostles, who could manipulate desire and emotions, and learned that the Three Great Churches were prepared to hunt one in Backlund.
  • Cyril read that the Church of Storms had placed an 8,000-pound bounty on Randolph Carter after he killed Jorg and defeated Mavity.
  • Cyril read that Bansy Harbor would be closed for renovations and surmised that it was being rebuilt after the recent events.
  • Two Sheriffs conducted a resident registration at Cyril’s inn, checked his papers, and left without discovering anything amiss.
  • The inn attendant told Cyril that the search was for a dangerous person, and Cyril decided the search probably was not about him.

Ch. 275Teaching

Cyril had Edefana destroy two Mystical Items and cleanse the mental imprint from one Beyonder Characteristic. In Backlund, Fors joined Lawrence’s lessons and learned about a coming Beyonder gathering; in Bayam, Cyril met Dimitri as a sudden storm broke over the sea.

  • Cyril asked Edefana to destroy a compass and a black gauntlet, and Edefana cleared the compass Characteristic’s lingering mental pollution.
  • Edefana explained that powerful, self-aware mental imprints could remain in Characteristics belonging to Demigods and above.
  • Lawrence introduced Fors to Owen as his student and began teaching them occult knowledge after Fors revealed she had advanced to Trickmaster.
  • Lawrence invited Fors and Owen to a Beyonder gathering that weekend, and Fors considered bringing Xio, Miss Audrey, and Viscount Glaint.
  • Cyril watched a standoff between pirates and official forces in Bayam, where Dimitri introduced himself and reported the Sea King’s return.
  • Thunder suddenly broke over the sea as the sky darkened and lightning filled the clouds.

Ch. 276A Conspiracy?

Cyril witnessed the Sea King destroy a pirate fleet, then escaped a Church of Storms enforcer while Dimitri fought him. After finding Dimitri alive but the music box unexplained, Cyril decided to trade it to a Demigod from the Moses Ascetic Order and give it to the Church of Storms if it proved too dangerous.

  • The Sea King used a storm and silver lightning to destroy the pirates gathered outside Bayam's harbor, while Cyril recorded the scene by painting.
  • Dimitri told Cyril that local resistance fighters had organized the pirates, then a Church of Storms enforcer arrived and attacked them.
  • Cyril escaped into the Mirror World and secretly watched Dimitri put the enforcer to sleep before the Sea King arrived and destroyed Cyril's mirror shard.
  • Cyril divined that Dimitri was still alive and, suspecting he had deliberately approached him, began investigating the music box Dimitri had left behind.
  • Cyril consulted Klein above the Gray Fog and decided to trade the music box to a Demigod from the Moses Ascetic Order, or give it to the Church of Storms if necessary.
