Background / History

Bibi Dong was orphaned as a child and taken in by Martial Soul Hall. Qian Xunji raised and taught her, and she became his disciple and the Hall's Saintess 11.

An informant recounts that she fell in love with Yu Xiaogang and accepted Qian Xunji's marriage proposal on the condition that Yu become an elder. The same account describes an attempted elopement, after which Qian Xunji expelled Yu at her pleading. The informant explicitly identifies much of this history as rumor rather than firsthand knowledge 11.

Qian Daoliu acknowledges that Qian Xunji forcibly took Bibi Dong and regards this as a debt owed to her. Bibi Dong later states directly that Qian Xunji raped her, resulting in Qian Renxue's birth. She associates her daughter with that assault and refuses to acknowledge her 4 8 52.

After Tang Hao severely wounded Qian Xunji, Bibi Dong killed him in a secret chamber. She tells Yu Xiaogang that the injuries were not fatal and that she committed the murder herself to remove the obstacles between them. A surviving witness later reports seeing her absorb the former Pope's soul power 12 39.

Bibi Dong succeeded Qian Xunji as Pope. Qian Daoliu protected her because of the wrongs committed against her, Qian Renxue's need for a mother, Martial Soul Hall's stability, and the organization's growth under her leadership. He also feared the consequences of killing a god's chosen successor 4 53.

Bibi Dong treats the papacy as an authority others must respect. She initially remains composed when challenged and avoids attacking Qian Xun'an before understanding his strength. Once his superiority becomes clear, she resorts to political maneuvering, including assigning him tournament responsibilities to test his competence and recruiting elders through a fabricated account of divine possession 2 13 46.

Her attachment to Yu Xiaogang combines enduring love, resentment, jealousy, and coercion. His departure and relationship with Liu Erlong sustain twenty years of hatred, yet his claim that she was his first love briefly weakens that resentment. Later, she threatens the people he cares about to force him back to her side 13 28.

She is vindictive toward Qian Xun'an and willing to kill to protect her secrets. After he humiliates her, she vows to repay him many times over; she also poisons a Soul Emperor who overhears her private conversation 10 13. Her concern for Hu Liena contrasts sharply with her hostility toward Qian Renxue: she defends her disciple's position but openly denies having a daughter 8 29 30.
