History

Early life and Eastsea Academy

Tang Wulin was raised in Aolai City by Tang Ziran and his wife. His family had limited means and could not afford even a century-old spirit soul for him, leaving him acutely aware of financial hardship from a young age. He later relied on forging commissions to support himself. 28 90 101

His Blue Silver Grass martial soul was initially considered weak, but he persisted in cultivation and blacksmithing. He attempted the Level 3 Blacksmith examination at age nine to obtain spiritual items for his martial soul, but failed during the critical Thousand Refinement step. Cen Yue and Mang Tian subsequently helped him obtain the required items through the Blacksmith Association. 32

Golden Dragon King seal crisis

Following Old Tang's instructions, Tang Wulin consumed the spiritual-item concoction to absorb the Golden Dragon King's essence. The process caused overwhelming pain, while Gu Yue and her fierce-beast followers attacked in an attempt to seize the essence. 34

The disturbance triggered the remaining seals within him. Tang San's divine consciousness forcibly opened the second seal and expelled its excess energy, saving Tang Wulin's life but costing him a portion of the Golden Dragon King's origin. Tang Wulin was left severely injured and hospitalized, with his future as a Soul Master initially believed to be in danger. 35 36

Class Zero and loss of the dragon core

Wu Zhangkong personally recommended Tang Wulin for Class Zero after his return to Eastsea Academy, placing him under pressure to prove that he deserved the position. 52

Gu Yue later orchestrated an attack on Mang Tian's workshop.
