Background / History
Xie Xie studied in Eastsea Academy's Class Five under Wu Zhangkong. After Gu Yue enrolled, Wu Zhangkong arranged a spar between the two; Gu Yue's multi-element suppression left Xie Xie unable to approach her, establishing an early imbalance between them. Wu subsequently intended to build a tournament team around Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Gu Yue. 9
Following the Class Promotion Tournament, he joined Eastsea Academy's elite Zero Class. Wu Zhangkong criticized Xie Xie for underperforming without Tang Wulin's assistance, a judgment Xie Xie privately recognized as fair. 42
During the class's first group entry into the Spirit Ascension Platform, Xie Xie overestimated his speed and was the first student eliminated after a pack of Wind Wolves surrounded him. Wu Zhangkong later condemned his arrogance and failure to adapt to fighting soul beasts. 59 61
He continued alongside Tang Wulin at Shrek Academy, where the pair faced difficult living conditions. Xie Xie later failed Shrek's internal selection for the delegation traveling to the Star Luo Federation. 222 243
Personality
Xie Xie is sharp-tongued and prone to provoking others, such as when he mocked Class One after Gu Yue's decisive tournament performance. His taunting of Yun Chen immediately collapsed when Yun Chen's gaze frightened him into trembling. 31
He is initially overconfident in his speed and frequently acts before judging the situation properly. Repeated defeats—particularly against Gu Yue, Yun Chen, Wu Zhangkong, and the Wind Wolves—force him to confront his shortcomings. 9 44 49 59
Despite his flaws, Xie Xie is loyal to Tang Wulin. He encouraged Tang after Tang Wulin was unable to contribute against Flame Demon Lions, and he remained at Tang Wulin's side when conflict over the Golden Dragon King aura isolated him from the rest of the class. 71 78

- Wu Zhangkong identified his habit of relying on speed alone as a major practical-combat weakness. 44
Mech Manufacturing
Xie Xie chose mech manufacturing as a secondary profession, intending for it to complement Tang Wulin's blacksmithing so that they could construct mechs together in the future. 71
