Background
Zhao Hao is a Zhao Family collateral-branch descendant whose birth mother was a marketplace embroiderer. After her death, he keeps her black jade pendant as a personal memento despite the disparity between its coarse appearance and the noble clothing around him. 8
His humble maternal background and inferior spiritual root make him a target of contempt from the main branch, especially his cousin Zhao Yuanchong. Rather than openly yield, Zhao Hao answers insults with controlled, pointed remarks and trains relentlessly to compensate for his slower cultivation. 8 12
The pendant eventually reveals itself as more than a keepsake. Its resonance alerts Zhao Hao to the existence of the Seven Killings, Greedy Wolf, and Army Breaker Star Fates; he comes to suspect that Zhao Yuanchong bears one of the opposing stars. 13
Appearance
Zhao Hao is a lean, muscular youth, initially described as roughly twelve or thirteen years old and half a head taller than Zhao Yuanchong. He usually presents himself in restrained, practical clothing rather than ostentatious finery. 8 12
- Plain features contrasted by exceptionally calm, sharp eyes 8
- Lean, trained physique, with a muscular back from constant martial practice 12
- Dark gray martial attire with tightly bound cuffs during the West Suburbs incident and tournament 25 34
- Long sword carried at his waist during the tournament final 40
- Black/ink jade pendant inherited from his late mother, later cracked and ultimately shattered 8 30 42
Personality
Zhao Hao is controlled under humiliation. Zhao Yuanchong’s attacks on his mother and background provoke visible anger, yet Zhao Hao keeps his expression composed and retaliates through measured words rather than impulsive violence. 8
He is vigilant and difficult to manipulate. When Li Tui exposes information about the abandoned well, Zhao Hao immediately identifies the attempt to “borrow a knife,” but chooses to investigate on terms that keep Li Tui under scrutiny. 24
In combat, Zhao Hao is calculating and ruthless when necessary. He exploits weaknesses, provokes opponents into losing control, and targets fatal openings rather than relying on brute force. 26 37 40 He can also act pragmatically with allies, offering Li Tui resources and a future favor in exchange for help against Zhao Yuanchong and Old Ghost. 39

Equipment / Weapons / Items

Story Role / Major Arcs
Conflict with Zhao Yuanchong
Zhao Hao endures Zhao Yuanchong’s public harassment at Moxiang Pavilion, where the direct-line young master targets his mother, upbringing, and poor spiritual root. Li Tui intervenes before Yuanchong can strike him, but the incident exposes the deep hostility between the cousins. 8
When Zhao Yuanchong later brings several lackeys to Zhao Hao’s courtyard, Zhao Hao effortlessly defeats them, confirming that his practical combat ability greatly exceeds what his cultivation progress suggests. 12
West Suburbs Investigation
Li Tui draws Zhao Hao into investigating Old Ghost’s abandoned well in the West Suburbs. Zhao Hao recognizes the manipulation but participates anyway, suspecting the Zhao Family may be concealing a larger scheme. 24 30
During the confrontation, Zhao Hao and Li Tui cooperate against Old Ghost. Zhao Hao discovers and destroys the Black Jade Casket sustaining the old man’s dark forces, and later protects Li Tui from a lethal claw strike at the cost of a severe shoulder wound. 26
Zhao Family Tournament
Zhao Hao advances through the Zhao Family tournament with conspicuous composure. He easily defeats Zhao Feng without drawing his sword, then defeats the dangerous Zhao Kun after using psychological warfare to make him lose control. 34 37
In the final against Zhao Yuanchong, Zhao Hao withstands Greedy Wolf’s oppressive force and manifests his Seven Killings killing intent. When the Blood Bodhi’s miasma disrupts the arena, he releases the pendant’s sealed power and lands a devastating blow on Zhao Yuanchong. 40 41
Betrayal and Crippling
Immediately after gaining the upper hand, Zhao Hao lowers his guard toward Li Tui. Li Tui stabs him in the back with the Blood Bodhi’s source, allowing the Samsara Mirror to seize most of Zhao Hao’s Seven Killings star origin. 41 42
The theft leaves Zhao Hao collapsed and nearly crippled, while his jade pendant is destroyed. His later fate is not documented in the provided material. 42
