Inherited Identity

After the Shouguang Li Clan had nearly declined into ruin, Li Xuan adopted the name of Li Tui's fifth-life identity to honor that ancestor's aspirations and revive the family. He completed Qi Refining in ten years and achieved Foundation Establishment at twenty, restoring the clan's standing in Shouguang County 295.

When Li Tui visited the ancestral residence, Li Xuan respectfully reported on the county registry, farmland, armory, and confiscated Yan Clan estates. Li Tui then probed his soul with the Mountain-River Cauldron and discovered that Li Xuan had absorbed the fifth life's cultivation experiences, Foundation Establishment insights, and fragments of personal memory 296.

Li Tui concluded that Li Xuan was neither the original fifth-life individual nor a literal clone. His autonomous soul had digested the inherited memories, but the inherited imprint had subtly bounded his choices to Li Tui's will. Li Tui therefore treated him as proof that inherited memories could create usable avatars across the Central Lands 296.

Golden Core and the False Karmic Thread

After attaining the Golden Core Dao, Li Xuan believed his true spirit had become independent. He later followed what he believed was an inseverable karmic thread to find Li Tui in his eleventh life, presenting himself as Li Tui's original self and offering protection from hostile cultivators 409 410.

That thread was not natural. Mountain-Guarding True Lord had secretly cultivated Li Xuan's opportunities, implanted the false karmic thread after his Golden Core reached great completion, erased his own involvement from Li Xuan's memories, and compelled him to seek out Li Tui 438.

Dao Protector and Earth Virtue

Li Xuan guided Li Tui toward Qing Province's Withering-Prospering Passage, an enduring karmic station left behind by True Lord Rong Fu. He used earth-vein travel to reach the site and explained its connection to Gold Seeking 416.

During Yin Wuji's assault, Li Xuan deployed the Mystic Yellow Barrier to shield Li Tui, suffering injuries to his Golden Core in the process. He nevertheless remained long enough to buy Li Tui time to complete Gold Seeking 418 421.

After Li Tui assembled four of the Five Elements, he designated Li Xuan as the missing Earth Virtue and demanded his Golden Core. Li Xuan accepted the arrangement outwardly but increasingly understood himself as prey awaiting a hunter's final move 426 430.

Rebellion and Death

Li Xuan ultimately released the Earth Virtue during the Five Elements Formation, causing its collapse. He attacked Li Tui, pierced his chest, and attempted to seize his Golden Core, driven by centuries of resentment at being treated as a disposable shadow 433 434.

The rebellion failed because Li Tui's gray light had already infiltrated Li Xuan's Metal Nature and Golden Core. As Li Tui began Nascent Soul transformation, the gray light devoured Li Xuan's cultivation; his body withered, disintegrated, and became nourishment for Li Tui's completed Five Elements 435.

Li Xuan appears as a young cultivator in his twenties, with an ordinary face that is easily forgotten and an immaculate, controlled bearing 296 416.

The inherited memories convinced him that he was the continuation of Li Tui's fifth life. This belief made him eager to receive Li Tui's recognition and guidance, even as the imprint within his soul quietly constrained his decisions 296.

He later develops a teasing familiarity with Li Tui, but this gives way to fear once he learns that he is not Li Tui's only incarnation. Being assigned the role of Earth Virtue exposes the depth of his resentment: he refuses to accept that his entire life exists solely to be consumed by the main body 415 421 426 434.
