Background / History

Yamauchi is an Advanced Nurturing High School student who appears in the Minzhai Rules Horror instance, initially unconscious in Room 106. Bai Yuze finds a note in his pocket describing a resident’s growing distrust of newcomers and deteriorating mental state. Bai recognizes Yamauchi from the original plot and immediately regards him as a likely betrayer. 19

When awakened, Yamauchi claims he had been working out in his dormitory before blacking out, though Bai Yuze identifies this explanation as an obvious lie. He introduces himself as a former high-school baseball star forced to retire through injury. 20

In an earlier loop, Yamauchi’s arrival nearly caused Bai, Yukino, and Yuigahama’s deaths. The group made him scout ahead on their route to the third floor; he was sacrificed during the attempt, though the loop still ended in failure. 24

During the later loop, the Minzhai begins removing Yamauchi’s body parts because his assigned identity is “food.” After discovering that his left thumb has vanished, he is forced to consume canned meat revealed to be his own flesh to stop further loss. 35 36

After fleeing from a corpse in terror, Yamauchi is possessed by Yuan Xing’s surviving eyeballs. He attempts to ambush Bai Yuze, who decapitates him and removes the possessing eyeballs. 37 39

Personality

Yamauchi is cowardly, self-important, and highly self-serving. He panics when confronted with the Minzhai’s dangers, faints at the sight of a corpse, and flees when he sees another body despite the risk of attracting anomalies. 20 22 37

He becomes conspicuously polite around Yuigahama Yui and Yukinoshita Yukino while expressing lecherous thoughts and treating them as targets for conquest. His behavior makes Yuigahama uncomfortable and provokes unusually open disgust from Yukino. 20 22

Although he boasts about his appeal and former athletic status, he quickly submits to Bai Yuze’s threats when survival is at stake. Bai and Yukino consider him emotionally unstable and more dangerous as a potential liability than useful as a human shield. 20 35 36
