Going to the Radiance Family meant heading to Mentor Gorsa's stronghold. They also had a Tier 4 patriarch there.
But Thor didn't want to go.
"If we go to the Radiance Family, there's no telling whether they'll protect me because of Mentor Gorsa and stand up to Flim. If I go to Radiance, I might become experimental material for another Tier 4 wizard. Besides, on the World Side, our research and experiments would be monitored by others. We can't stop striving to grow stronger just for the sake of temporary safety."
The room fell silent for a moment. Just then, Keli and Byron had both hoped Thor would go into hiding for a while.
But Thor's words made them realize that danger couldn't be avoided.
"But if we don't hide, we're no match for the Judgment Court or Flim right now." Keli gritted her teeth. Hiding might be cowardly, but it was better than being captured and used for experiments.
The latter might actually get them killed!
"Wait!" Keli remembered something. "I heard that Mentor Gorsa was trying to break through to Tier 4. If he succeeds, we shouldn't have to hide from Flim."
"Mentor Gorsa is trying to break through to Tier 4..." Thor rested his chin on his hand, realizing this was crucial information. Something flashed through his mind, but he couldn't yet piece it together.
An idea hovered just out of reach, frustratingly elusive. Thor decided to change the subject for now.
"Let's leave that aside. We still have a few months to come up with a plan. How are your experiments with the White Bone Monsters going?"
Before leaving the Land of No Owner, Thor had assigned them both experiments involving the White Bone Monsters.
