The next morning, Plant Academy still hadn't recovered from the previous day's battle. They gave up competing with Skywater Academy for third place, and Plant Academy was eliminated.
Shrek Academy and Godwind Academy were originally scheduled to face each other that afternoon, but because Plant Academy had forfeited, they would now decide the winner that morning.
Jiang Huai sat on the steps in Shrek Academy's spectator section, looking at the information he had on Godwind Academy.
"A Mutated Martial Soul, the Gale Two-Headed Wolf. It combines agility and power. This won't be easy."
Jiang Huai murmured to himself as Dai Mubai battled Godwind Academy's vice-captain on the arena.
The vice-captain, Xiao Yi, was a Soul Master whose Martial Soul was a Storm Spirit Eagle. He was incredibly fast, making it difficult to track his movements.
Dai Mubai had been forced to defend the whole time. Xiao Yi kept searching for an opening, but Dai Mubai had already mastered the Indestructible Diamond Body. He was like an unbreakable stone statue.
Xiao Yi had expended a great deal of Soul Power and didn't want to keep dragging things out. He unleashed his fourth Soul Skill, Hurricane Dive. Dai Mubai easily dodged it.
Dai Mubai suddenly grabbed Xiao Yi by the right leg. A cold sweat broke out across Xiao Yi's back, but Dai Mubai gave him no chance to get away.
He slammed Xiao Yi to the ground, leaving him in excruciating pain.
Feng Xiaotian immediately called out that they were conceding the round. Dai Mubai let go, and Xiao Yi lay on the ground, unable to move.
Feng Xiaotian sent Su Yu in to take his place. Su Yu stepped onto the arena with one hand behind his back and said, "After you."
Dai Mubai immediately fired a White Tiger Intense Light Wave. Su Yu dodged with ease and remarked, "Too slow." Furious, Dai Mubai unleashed his fourth Soul Skill, White Tiger Meteor Shower, attacking a wide area.
Su Yu began to struggle and dodged frantically. Dai Mubai smirked, but he never expected Su Yu to unleash his strongest Soul Skill right from the start.
"Fourth Soul Skill: Wind Breath Encirclement."
Dai Mubai's attacks suddenly became erratic. Su Yu followed up with a kick and eliminated him.
After Dai Mubai was eliminated, Xiao Wu took the field and defeated Su Yu with a single Teleportation.
The teams took turns sending out their members. For the most part, each side eliminated one opponent at a time.
Soon, Tang San was the sixth to take the field. Godwind Academy's sixth competitor was Lin Wan'er, a Soul Master with the Breeze Spirit Fox as her Martial Soul.
Tang San opened with Blue Silver Entanglement, but Lin Wan'er easily leaped out of the way. Even when Tang San managed to bind her, she could free herself with her flexible body.
Suddenly, Lin Wan'er used her third Soul Skill, Soul-Confusing Wind. Tang San realized something was wrong, but he could no longer move.
Lin Wan'er began to overwhelm Tang San in a one-sided battle. Her legs were long, and she attacked him almost entirely with kicks, forcing him to retreat again and again.
Just as Tang San was about to step off the edge of the arena, the effects of Soul-Confusing Wind wore off. He punched Lin Wan'er, and she immediately blocked with her hand, only to be knocked back.
Tang San didn't want to keep playing around with Lin Wan'er. He unleashed Blue Silver Cage.
Then Tang San shaped his Blue Silver Grass into a sword and began attacking in his own way.
Tang San wasn't a sword Soul Master and had never received formal instruction as a swordsman, so his swordsmanship was clumsy. Most of his techniques had been pieced together from the scraps of sword intent Sword Douluo Chen Xin had given him, along with what he could remember.
Tang San had used up most of his Soul Power by the time he defeated Lin Wan'er. Feng Xiaotian rolled his wrists and stepped onto the arena. Jiang Huai's gaze followed him closely.
Standing on the arena, Feng Xiaotian said, "I'd originally wanted to fight your captain, so I could face him honorably at full strength. I didn't expect you to be this strong."
Tang San tightened his grip on the sword formed from Blue Silver Grass. "Our captain isn't someone just anyone can challenge."
Feng Xiaotian laughed at his words. "Big talk."
"Third Soul Skill: Wind Blade Array!"
When Tang San saw Feng Xiaotian unleash his Soul Skill first, he too used—no, Blue Silver Entanglement.
Before Blue Silver Entanglement could reach Feng Xiaotian, he swept his right hand and sent a blade of wind slicing toward it.
The Blue Silver Grass was shredded. Then wings formed from wind blades appeared behind Feng Xiaotian.
Feng Xiaotian flew overhead and looked down at Tang San. "Get down. You're no match for me. In my eyes, only your Soul King captain is worth fighting."
Tang San gripped the Blue Silver Sword tightly. "If you want to fight my captain, you'll have to beat me first!"
"Then I'll grant your wish!"
Feng Xiaotian sent a barrage of wind blades at Tang San. With barely any Soul Power left, Tang San struggled to hold them off. When the Blue Silver Sword shattered, he used his Mysterious Jade Hand to defend himself instead.
But Feng Xiaotian showed no mercy. With a sweep of his wing, he knocked Tang San off the arena.
Tang San was eliminated. Jiang Huai stood up to take the field, but Gu Yue grabbed him, concern in her eyes.
Jiang Huai gave her a reassuring look, then gently removed her hand. With every step he took, the sword aura around him grew stronger.
Sword Douluo Chen Xin's eyes narrowed as he watched Jiang Huai from the judges' seats. Jiang Huai had reached the arena.
At the host's signal, Jiang Huai reached forward and swept his hand. The Jinxu Longyuan Sword appeared in his grasp.
The sword aura carried the might of a dragon. Even Feng Xiaotian felt his Martial Soul tremble.
But Feng Xiaotian was a level-forty-six Power Attack System Battle Soul Ancestor. He wasn't about to lose heart over a little pressure.
Feng Xiaotian dove at him, and Jiang Huai easily blocked him with his sword.
Feng Xiaotian's wind wings and the Jinxu Longyuan Sword clashed. The sword gave a dragon's roar rather than a sword's ring.
Cracks appeared in Feng Xiaotian's wings. Startled, he immediately gathered the surrounding wind elements to repair them.
Jiang Huai held his sword in one hand and leveled it across his body. His aura surged even higher. Watching him from the spectator section, Gu Yue realized he was about to use his self-created sword technique.
"Xuanyuan Flowing Wave!"—The sword moved like water coursing through a deep ravine, turning smoothly and flowing without end. With no clear break in its force, it could use softness to overcome strength, ensnare an enemy's blade, and guide it aside, disrupting the opponent's rhythm.
Feng Xiaotian's charging Gale Demon Wolf Thirty-Six Consecutive Slashes had its buildup interrupted. He stared in shock at the sword aura Jiang Huai had unleashed.
Jiang Huai gave him no moment to catch his breath. He swung again, his sword aura sweeping out. "Xuanyuan: Sea Swallowing!"
The sword's reach opened wide like a deep sea, capable of taking on attacks from multiple directions at once. Its broad defensive circle concealed a counterattack, embodying the deep sea's capacity to absorb and strike back.
Feng Xiaotian was enveloped by the sword circle. It was as if he had fallen into an endless ocean, one filled with sword aura.
Feng Xiaotian panicked. He had never imagined Jiang Huai's techniques would be so formidable—able to interrupt his buildup and trap him in a seemingly inescapable domain.
Salas sat thinking on his seat. Then he suddenly recalled the Jiang Kingdom royal family's hereditary Martial Soul, passed down through the kingdom under the Star Luo Empire. Wasn't the Jiang Kingdom royal family's hereditary Martial Soul the Longyuan Sword?
Salas's expression darkened. He called a Spirit Hall guard over and whispered a few words to him.
Ning Fengzhi frowned as he looked over and read Salas's lips. Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer hadn't been exposed ahead of time, yet Salas had instead realized that Jiang Huai might be connected to the Jiang Kingdom royal family.
Feng Xiaotian began to break under the impression Jiang Huai's skills had made on him. He shouted, "I surrender!"
At his words, Jiang Huai ended his sword technique and stood coolly in place. Feng Xiaotian lay on the ground, panting heavily.
The promotion tournament soon came to an end, with Shrek Academy once again taking the championship. Three days later, the Heaven Dou Imperial Knights would escort the academies to Spirit City.
