Relations with Spirit Hall

A Spirit Hall Archbishop described the empire's political order as one centered on noble bloodlines and a rigid class hierarchy. In his account, this fundamentally conflicted with Spirit Hall's policy of awakening spirits for commoners and giving them a route to advancement. 29

Xue Celou Incident

Prince Xue Xing's son, Xue Celou, caused a deadly disturbance in Tianxing City and was killed after confronting Xu Yuan. Spirit Hall publicly alleged that Xue Celou had attempted to kill the Pope's disciple and used the incident to threaten a crusade against the empire. 38 41

Heaven Dou factions investigated the matter and confirmed Xue Celou's involvement in the killings. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect then offered to mediate, arguing that open war would harm the populace. 42

Emperor Xue Ye chose to issue a formal apology rather than risk escalation with Spirit Hall. The apology denied that the imperial leadership had ordered the incident, but accepted responsibility because Xue Celou was Prince Xue Xing's son. 43

Compensation

Spirit Hall accepted the apology while demanding compensation on Xu Yuan's behalf:

• At least one ten-thousand-year soul bone.
• A heavenly treasure capable of restoring a damaged foundation.
• Five million Gold Soul Coins for Xu Yuan's alleged trauma and damaged cultivation.
• Ten million Gold Soul Coins for allegedly destroyed historic buildings. 43

The empire agreed to the exorbitant compensation, providing Spirit Hall with urgently needed funds and further demonstrating the pressure the organization could exert on Heaven Dou. 44

Military and Educational Response

Following the compensation crisis, Heaven Dou and Star Luo began recruiting talent and reforming their academies to better compete with Spirit Hall. 50

Heaven Dou Royal Academy later hosted Spirit Academy for an exchange program. Despite its superior facilities and resources, its Imperial Fighting Team suffered humiliating losses, leading Emperor Xue Ye to suspend the exchanges temporarily. 51 52 59

Fall of the Empire

For years, Qian Renxue lived within the empire under the identity of Crown Prince Xue Qinghe. Her original infiltration mission was connected to a Heaven Dou imperial heirloom believed to have originated from Sea God Island. 109

When the Kingdom of Barak declared rebellion, Xue Qinghe was dispatched with Marshal Ge Long and an army of eight hundred thousand. During arranged peace talks, Qian Renxue revealed herself, had Ge Long killed, purged opposing officers, and took command of the remaining forces. She then marched on Tiantou City with an army numbering roughly one million. 105

In 2646 of the Tiantou Calendar, the capital garrison opened its gates without resistance. Emperor Xue Ye disappeared from the palace, and Qian Renxue seized the capital, ascended as empress, and renamed the country the Great Xia Empire. The coup concluded within a month. 106

After taking power, Qian Renxue purged much of the old imperial nobility. Her actions earned public support but provoked resentment among surviving provincial nobles. Xue Beng, the last remaining royal bloodline, was later found dead outside Martial Soul City; his death was officially ruled a suicide. 106
