"Lightning Seal!"

Uchiha Tamaharu didn't hesitate. He pressed his hand against Uchiha Itachi's neck and left a seal there.

The seal could absorb the Chakra inside Uchiha Itachi into itself. If anyone tried to remove it without permission, it would detonate that Chakra into a powerful electric current that would surge through the seal-breaker's body.

Itachi looked uncomfortable. His Chakra's flow had suddenly been altered, and he had lost much of his physical strength. The unfamiliar sensation made him uneasy.

"That should do it, right?"

Shisui felt sorry for his good friend.

He had originally wanted Itachi to help him cover the Uchiha Clan's retreat.

He hadn't expected Uchiha Tamaharu to insist on sealing Itachi.

"There's one more thing. This is the last."

"Genjutsu: Sharingan!"

Uchiha Tamaharu said.

At the same time, he cast a genjutsu on Itachi, sending him a message.

Shisui was startled, but then thought that if Uchiha Tamaharu really wanted to kill Itachi, there would be no need to do this.

In less than five seconds, Itachi woke up.

His face was filled with shock.

It turned out that Uchiha Tamaharu had just used the genjutsu to tell Uchiha Itachi the plan.

Itachi learned that Uchiha Tamaharu intended to take the clan members to another world. The incredible idea left him stunned.

"Next, I'll send you to the base I prepared in the other world. You won't have Chakra, but your Taijutsu is good enough to keep you alive over there."

"The plan will begin in three days. The Uchiha Clan will relocate there. Go ahead and check the situation and make sure it's safe."

With that, Uchiha Tamaharu opened a portal to the One Piece world.

Then, under Uchiha Shisui's stunned gaze, he threw Itachi through to the other side and closed the portal.

"Was Itachi really that dangerous?"

"Did you have to go that far?"

Shisui could see that Uchiha Tamaharu was determined to eliminate Uchiha Itachi as a potential threat.

He felt insulted!

He had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, yet he hadn't been treated this way.

But Itachi was being targeted so seriously. Shisui couldn't understand it.

"Get back to your mission. Make sure the plan goes smoothly."

"If anything goes wrong, the Uchiha and Konoha could end up at war. Who knows how many people would die?"

Uchiha Tamaharu didn't explain.

Should he tell him that if things continued this way, Uchiha Itachi would end up with the blood of the Uchiha Clan on his hands?

People from Konoha were people, but the Uchiha Clan weren't?

"Understood!"

Hearing Uchiha Tamaharu's words, Shisui calmed down.

He was a little annoyed, but Itachi was surely safe. He'd let it go.

The retreat was more important!

"Uchiha Itachi has lost contact, too!"

Danzo furrowed his brows.

Uchiha Itachi hadn't shown up as promised today, which left him furious.

He couldn't tell whether Shisui and Itachi had been discovered by the Uchiha Clan or had defected and chosen the Uchiha side.

"Lord Danzo, it seems the Uchiha Clan is buying up medical supplies and food. The quantities are quite large."

"But they haven't made any moves regarding ninja tools."

The person in charge of monitoring the Uchiha reported to Danzo.

For the past few days, Anbu and Root had barely had any time to rest. Their surveillance had covered nearly all of Konoha.

They couldn't get through to the Uchiha Clan Compound, but Anbu had covered just about everywhere else.

While dealing with the Uchiha, Danzo hadn't forgotten to target the other clans, such as the Hyuga Clan.

When the Senju Clan's spoils were divided last time, both the Hyuga and Uchiha had been excluded.

The clans they were mainly targeting in this generation were the Senju, Uchiha, and Hyuga. Not long ago, over the Kumogakure envoy incident, they had driven the current Hyuga Clan Leader's younger brother, Hizashi Hyuga, to his death.

Relations between Konoha and the Hyuga Clan were now rather poor.

So they had to keep an eye on them, too.

"What are those Uchiha bastards up to?"

Danzo was furious.

With both of his spies out of contact, he had completely lost control over the Uchiha.

The Uchiha had been ostracized so badly that there were practically no clan members on their side. Now it was difficult even to find out what was going on.

"Send people to investigate openly inside the Uchiha Clan Compound," Danzo ordered at last.

This would only aggravate the conflict further.

But without even knowing what was happening among the Uchiha, he couldn't plan his next move.

Although he'd be more than happy to see the Uchiha die immediately, it would be best if they could avoid a fight.

If war really broke out, Konoha would suffer heavy losses. How much would the jackals waiting around them tear from Konoha then?

The gains they took from the Uchiha might not be enough to make up for the losses!

"Yes!"

A dozen Root members nearby answered at once.

Then they vanished with the Body Flicker, setting off to carry out Danzo's orders!

"Kakashi, coming to the Uchiha side right now seems like it could be a problem,"

Might Guy said to Kakashi with a furrowed brow.

Even someone like him, who was usually slow to catch on to these things, could sense the growing tension between the village and the Uchiha.

He didn't know why Kakashi had asked him to come along to the Uchiha Clan Compound today to pay respects to Obito.

"Ah, I don't know if we'll get another chance like this."

Kakashi spoke with a complicated expression.

His team had mainly handled external missions. That had been Anbu's original duty, while the Military Police Force handled internal affairs.

Only Root was different, handling both internal and external matters while keeping its activities well hidden.

But recently, a large number of Anbu had been recalled to Konoha. And with Uchiha Itachi, one of his subordinates, out of contact, Kakashi knew something had happened in the village.

The day before, they'd even received an assignment to investigate the Uchiha and find out what was going on inside the clan by any means necessary.

He knew the village and the Uchiha might end up at war, but his bond with Obito left him with complicated feelings about the clan.

"Let's pay our respects and leave quickly. It feels like people here don't welcome us!"

Might Guy said.

He didn't know the details. The matter was only being discussed within Anbu.

"Guy, I'm always glad to see you."

But just then, someone suddenly spoke up.

Might Guy recognized the familiar voice, and his face immediately brightened.

"Tamaharu, what are you doing here?"

Might Guy turned around and saw Uchiha Tamaharu. He greeted him enthusiastically.

Tamaharu had been in the same class as them. Though he was a year younger, it had been wartime, and nearly every ninja who graduated from the Academy as a Genin had been sent to the battlefield.

The classes hadn't been as clearly separated as Naruto's generation. So Tamaharu had been close with Kakashi and Might Guy.
