Watching Naruto still hard at work, Kakashi came over to kindly remind him. At this rate, Kakashi would have to wait until late at night to reunite with his beloved Icha Icha Paradise.
"Okay, Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto looked up and saw Kakashi reminding him, then started thinking it over. If Sasuke or Sakura had told him that, he definitely would've refused to listen. But when it came to Kakashi, he wouldn't dare argue—after all, Kakashi was his teacher.
"Keep it up! You got this mission because you were late in the first place. If you keep working this slowly, I think those two might start looking down on you!"
Seeing Naruto begin to study Sasuke's every move, Kakashi decided to provoke him. After all, he wanted to get home and read!
"Oh no..." Hearing Kakashi's words, Naruto broke into a sweat, then immediately used the Shadow Clone Technique to get to work.
"That Chakra reserve is enviable!" Watching a dozen or so clones suddenly appear, Kakashi could only purse his lips helplessly before going to sit idly off to the side.
"You've got to be kidding me!"
Sakura couldn't help commenting when she saw Naruto use a bunch of Shadow Clones and still act as if nothing was wrong. This was just too unfair!
"All right..."
Having tasted success by using Shadow Clones and copying Sasuke, Naruto ignored Sakura's astonishment and began hoeing like crazy.
In the end, thanks to Naruto's burst of effort, Team 7 successfully completed the mission. When Kakashi realized he could get home early to read Icha Icha Paradise, he didn't linger. He hurried back to the mission center with the three of them.
After turning in the mission, Kakashi divided the reward among them and immediately dismissed the team.
"Poof!"
As soon as Kakashi dismissed them, Sasuke's Shadow Clone dispersed.
"Impossible! That was a Shadow Clone!"
Watching the Shadow Clone vanish in a puff of smoke, Kakashi looked stunned. He had never dreamed Sasuke's clone could last that long.
"Baka!"
Unlike Kakashi, who was stunned, Naruto flew into a rage. He had just barely managed to keep up with Sasuke's work by using Shadow Clones! That had made him think he'd caught up with Sasuke, but how was he supposed to feel now? He could only break even with Sasuke's Shadow Clone?
"All right, all right. Calm down. We're dismissed!"
Seeing Naruto about to blow his top, Kakashi waved awkwardly and headed home. He'd been careless. Next time, he'd make sure Sasuke was using his real body before they started.
As Kakashi walked, he felt conflicted. He hadn't even noticed that Sasuke was a Shadow Clone. What a blunder!
"Ugh, I'm exhausted. I'm going home to rest!" After seeing Kakashi-sensei leave, Sakura stretched and headed home.
"Hey, aren't you angry? Sasuke used a Shadow Clone to fool us!" Seeing how unconcerned Sakura looked, Naruto asked angrily.
"Would getting angry help? You idiot, Kakashi-sensei hasn't said anything, so what are you getting worked up about?" Seeing that Naruto still wouldn't let go of Sasuke using a Shadow Clone, Sakura once again transformed into a violent demon and beat him up.
"Sorry!"
After Sakura taught him a lesson, Naruto lay on the ground and apologized miserably. He didn't think he'd done anything wrong, but under Sakura's threat of violence, he had no choice but to give in.
"Sensei, I think I just saw your shadow!" Kakashi hadn't gone far. Hearing the commotion behind him, he thought of his teacher and his teacher's wife, as well as the "dead" Obito and Rin.
Thinking of them, Kakashi changed course. Rather than go straight home, he bought a few bouquets at a flower shop and headed to the cemetery. He wanted to pay his respects to his teammates and share the news with them.
At Sasuke's house, Sasuke suddenly stopped training. Just then, another story slowly appeared in his mind—the memories brought back by his Shadow Clone.
"What an incurable idiot! I hope the Fourth Hokage doesn't get so angry he comes back to life!"
After sorting through his Shadow Clone's memories, Sasuke couldn't help commenting on Naruto's lateness before continuing his training.
His goal, of course, was to develop a new ninjutsu—not the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken, but an entirely new technique.
Several wooden stakes stood in front of Sasuke. His task was to strike every one of them with Lightning Release Chakra, using just a single attack.
Lightning flashed in Sasuke's right hand, and a blue chain of lightning shot from his palm, piercing the first target. It didn't disappear afterward, but went searching for a second target. A moment later, the second was pierced, followed by the third, the fourth... The lightning chain vanished when it reached the seventh target.
