Class A begins the school year as a notably quiet, restrained group. Students initially form small circles while carefully judging one another, and the room falls silent when Kijima Tsukur enters due to his conspicuous demeanor. Kamuro Masumi is the first classmate to openly challenge his obstruction of the aisle with his Rubik’s Cube. 2

Kijima, Sakayanagi Arisu, and Katsuragi Kohei quickly emerge as the class’s three central figures. Kijima deduces that their undisclosed examination concerns discipline and teacher-student etiquette, while the class recognizes that individual conduct may affect its future points. 5

After learning that graduation from Class A grants free career selection, the class treats leadership as a necessity. Katsuragi is willing to support Kijima if Kijima can protect the class’s interests, but remains wary of his insistence that every member is his “subordinate.” 19

Sakayanagi backs Kijima’s election as class leader, and he is elected without objections. His first order is to reveal the school’s system to the entire first-year cohort, despite immediate opposition from classmates concerned that doing so will sacrifice Class A’s advantage. 24

Kijima’s stated objective is ALL-A: having every first-year student graduate from Class A. His policy divides the class, particularly because he views the other classes’ improvement as necessary to demonstrate that the school’s system fails through poor leadership rather than inevitable inequality. 23 24 25
