The Course of Events
Raven snapped out of her daze and looked at the man in front of her.
Sunlight shone from behind him, illuminating his handsome face and his happy, warm expression. He radiated happiness, and his warm smile never stopped.
"You're Ying Ying's relative, aren't you? Wearing a black cloak is so strange. Ying Ying might not like it. Be careful not to let her see you. Come with me..."
The man smiled and said something, not minding Raven's attire, before leading Raven to her seat.
The bride's relatives and friends sat in the right row, all dressed in luxurious and expensive clothes, adorned with gold and silver, making them dazzling. Although they did not overshadow the bride, they were still very beautiful and charming.
After arranging a seat for the Raven, the man left her side and went to the door to lead the others.
The Raven looked around the entire church, and everything around it seemed to be filled with happiness and warmth.
Something's not right!
Something's not right!
When Raven met Ba Di, and spent time with Ba Di, he could constantly sense Ba Di's pain and how he was tormenting himself. It couldn't be this scene.
If it were a scene of purgatory Hell, the Raven would believe it without hesitation, so how could it be such a blissful sight?
This made the Raven feel a sense of unease.
This is Ba Di's deepest pain. What exactly has shaped Ba Di into who he is today? Is it this scene?
Raven's eyes flashed with thought. She wanted to take Ba Di out, but she had no clue whatsoever.
Why would Ying Ying choose to marry this backup option?
"Didn't she have a falling out with Zhou Shao?"
"He has such a stupid look on his face, it's annoying to see him grinning like that."
The Raven turned its head and saw several people in expensive formal attire whispering among themselves, giving an impatient evaluation of Ba Di.
She listened carefully to the conversations around her and came to the conclusion that the women on this side seemed to have objections to Ying Ying marrying Ba Di and were very puzzled as to why she would marry such an ordinary and mediocre person.
Raven got up, walked behind the man at the door, and gently patted him on the shoulder.
"There are people talking badly about you over there."
"Raven said, watching Ba Di's reaction."
She still can't figure out why Ba Di looks different here, even his skin color is different. Is it because of his past experiences?
Li Wei looked at her in surprise, seemingly a little puzzled, but then smiled brightly and said, "It's okay, I don't live by their words."
"Thank you, the future will be better and better."
Li Wei tugged at the sides of his suit jacket, his smile exceptionally warm and confident, radiating brilliance in the sunlight.
Raven was stunned. She had never seen such a sunny, warm, and trustworthy smile before. His smile seemed contagious, warming people's hearts.
Seeing that smile, the Raven had no doubt that no matter how heavy the setbacks, it could face them with joy.
In fact, the very person who gave him confidence also destroyed everything he had.
The Raven witnessed all of this.
The wedding then began.
The bride walked in arm in arm with her father, accompanied by the wedding march. Her father's expression was the same as that of the other bride's relatives; he looked down on Li Wei and gave him a cold shoulder. Li Wei, however, responded with a smile and showed no resentment.
He always believed that the future would get better and better; with something to hold onto, he had a future.
Li Wei's married life wasn't actually good, but he always had a smile on his face, making people feel that he was the one who was living the best life.
The Raven blurred, following Li Wei as he witnessed his experiences.
Working overtime day and night, glued to the computer.
I hurriedly delivered takeout along the way.
Sometimes they would take flyers and hand them out.
Like a woman, she haggles over every penny at the market, carefully managing her daily life.
He is sunny, cheerful, and honest. Everyone is willing to be his friend and take advantage of him in small ways, but he doesn't mind.
Every day, he was willing to give up everything he had worked hard for to make his wife smile, whether it was LV, Chanel perfume, Chanel clothing, Dior. He would do everything he could to buy things to make his wife happy. On the contrary, his wife would sarcastically say that he didn't know what LV or Chanel were, that he didn't understand style or character.
At times like these, Li Wei can only smile and say, "Having an understanding wife is enough for me."
He was feigning madness, smiling brightly, and making Raven feel a pang of heartache.
Why demean yourself like this for someone else?
The Raven didn't understand, but it felt a pang of heartache for Ba Di.
Then, two months later, his wife became pregnant.
Li Wei was so surprised and overwhelmed that he was in a daze for the entire day.
At this moment, Li Wei unleashed all his potential like a madman. He knew that his monthly salary of 5,000 yuan could barely provide his wife with some inexpensive luxuries, and it would be difficult to support a family with children.
From the moment he learned he was pregnant, he stopped smiling.
When the Raven saw that he had started lying and deceiving his friends, he stopped smiling and asked all his friends and acquaintances for money.
In just a few days, he had already accumulated a debt of 500,000 yuan. He saved 200,000 yuan as future funds for his son.
He used the remaining 300,000 yuan to invest in the stock market.
A month later, he withdrew one million.
He was completely insane, squeezing every single brain cell out of himself, unleashing unprecedented wisdom.
No one knows how fortunate he is to have a happy family, a son, and a wife, despite being an orphan.
Those who have families cannot understand that kind of longing.
He risked his life to protect and cherish this family.
How could he bear to let his wife and son suffer the same pain he had endured?
From that time on, Raven never saw Li Wei show that sunny smile again.
He would leave home at four or five in the morning every day, always quietly, without waking his wife, to investigate data in the streets and alleys. Then he would come back to take care of his wife's meals, making sure she was well taken care of, before leaving again.
After a week of investigation and research, he established two fruit supermarkets. Unsurprisingly, his efforts paid off handsomely. Just as his wife was about to give birth, within a few months, he had taken out bank loans and owned seven self-employed fruit supermarkets with assets worth five million.
It was almost a miracle that in just six months, he went from having nothing to having assets worth five million, with a monthly salary of 5,000. All he paid for it was the loss of the warm smile that made the Raven Li Wei, and the start of his practiced lying.
The only thing that hasn't changed is that he still loves his wife, and all of this is for his wife and son.
A chill ran through the Raven.
Li Wei had given so much, and this sacrifice chilled Raven to the bone. His wife's entitlement to such treatment also chilled Raven to the bone.
Everything he worked so hard for didn't belong to him, if Li Wei knew.
It's impossible to know how desperate he must have felt.
