Ba Di manipulated the Underground Base’s researchers while secretly seeking a chance to regain his strength in sunlight. After sunlight restored his powers, he killed guards and began his escape, leaving dozens of soldiers at his mercy.

• Ba Di’s spacecraft crashed near Nevada’s Area 18, and Colonel Slade’s soldiers captured him after knocking Mike unconscious.
• General Vick and Dean Bo Li studied Ba Di, while Ba Di pretended to be helpless and used Doctor Jenny’s affection to seek greater freedom.
• Jenny proposed a pulse treatment instead of having Slade sever Ba Di’s tendons, but the procedure left Ba Di paralyzed from the neck down.
• Ba Di gained access to the damaged spacecraft and told Dean Bo Li that its key held the royal family’s treasure, then persuaded Jenny to take him into sunlight.
• Slade confronted Ba Di and Jenny, but Dean Bo Li’s successful Gene Serum results convinced Slade to let them proceed under guard.
• Sunlight restored Ba Di’s mobility, healed his wounds, and gave him immense strength, allowing him to break his restraints and evade Jack’s gunfire.
• Ba Di killed Jack and Mason, shot Jenny, and warned Slade that he would not head for the surface before destroying the radio.

Ba Di seized control of the Underground Research Institute, destroyed the military base, and escaped by air after leaving Jenny behind. He reached Gotham Harbor, where he demonstrated his powers to Hank and Mario Falcone and demanded their cooperation.

• Slade ordered the soldiers to fire on Ba Di, who fought his way through the floors and killed Slade before confronting Dean Bo Li for the key.
• Ba Di shot Dean Bo Li, used the key to awaken Hera, and had her seize control of the base’s electronic systems.
• After General Vick threatened him, Ba Di released mustard gas underground and used Hera to turn the base’s missiles against the military forces above.
• Ba Di recovered the Gene Serum, left the ruined institute, and flew away from the base while choosing not to take Jenny with him.
• Ba Di evaded an F-15, leapt onto its cockpit, pulled out the pilot, and tore off his uniform as he roared at the sky.
• General Vick concealed Ba Di’s alien identity and ordered Jenny to evacuate, and Jenny found Ba Di had erased the genetic research and prepared to transform a Human Weapon.
• Ba Di arrived at Gotham Harbor as Hank and Mario Falcone completed a money-and-drugs exchange.
• Ba Di deflected Hank’s bullets and survived nearly two hundred shots, then demanded a few dogs to do his bidding.

Ba Di left Gotham for Metropolis, built a gang by seizing Suicide Slum, and began bringing the city’s criminal powers under his command. As he invested in a biotechnology company, Tobias Whale joined him, and Ba Di took Tobias and Bruno Mannheim on a terrifying display of his power.

• Ba Di accepted Mike and his men into his service, recruited Pamela Isley’s future loyalty, and left Gotham for Metropolis after killing seven captives and a Talon of the Court of Owls.
• In Suicide Slum, Ba Di enlisted Lionel Luthor to explain Metropolis’s criminal factions and then took control of the Brotherhood by killing its leaders and forcing its members to submit.
• Ba Di imposed new rules on the Brotherhood, rallied its members under his name, and led them in destroying the Underground Trading Company.
• Sam Lane investigated Ba Di and General Vick, while Slade Wilson rejected Vick’s orders and set out to find Ba Di for a fight.
• Ba Di put Mike in charge of Suicide Slum, sent Lex Luthor to help acquire Nuo Yi Biological Research Company, and ordered Mike to target the Gambino Mafia and expand their territory.
• Ba Di renamed the company Cosmic Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and persuaded Tobias Whale to join him by promising to restore his health and give him strength.
• Bruno Mannheim challenged Ba Di over Organization One Hundred’s territory, and Ba Di jumped from a forty-story building with Bruno and Tobias before using his force field to launch them back into the sky.

Ba Di defeated Death Knell, seized control of Metropolis, and manipulated Sam Lane to protect his secret while Jenny died after saving him. Grieving and determined to bring Jenny back, Ba Di expanded his plans, learned that Joe El’s son had arrived on Earth, and went to claim a place among the Family.

• Death Knell attacked Ba Di, but Ba Di overpowered him and used Hera to alter his memories and suppress his urge to reveal Ba Di’s alien identity.
• Ba Di uncovered the Biological Chip that could reveal Earth’s location to Brainiac, then decided not to use it to restore Jenny and demanded she choose whether to live or die.
• Jenny escaped her cage and killed General Vick and Colonel Violet when they threatened Ba Di, then fought through the camp as Ba Di destroyed the weapons aimed at her.
• Jenny embraced Ba Di and exploded, leaving him clutching her ring and swearing to become a god and reverse time to bring her back.
• Ba Di consolidated control over Metropolis, sent Tobias Whale and Bruno to compete for California, and created Hidden Subconscious Guidance Spores for prominent political and military figures.
• Ba Di learned Joe El’s son had arrived on Earth and suspected he carried the Codex of Life, recalling how Joe El had defeated him and saved Kal-El.
• The Family gathered at the Galaxy International Hotel to welcome Ba Di as its 18th Seat, and Ba Di stopped Yada Edge from embracing him.
