"Could it be that the time for Foresight hasn't come yet? But if the time hasn't come and the location is unclear, how could I possibly find it by searching the vast ocean alone?" Desterie returned to Jinyang Prefecture and racked his brains for a solution. In the end, he concluded there was no answer to the problem unless he put out a widespread notice and summoned all the fate-readers, demons, monsters, Wind Hunters, and others to help him search.
But he didn't dare. He had no idea whether any Sovereign had already obtained the Supreme God Mirror. If one had, then searching so ostentatiously would inevitably attract the Sovereigns' attention, and things might backfire.
Besides, according to the original story, whether it was the first or second Supreme God of Destruction mission, the one who completed it was either Orloff or Uthred. Against those two, he currently had even less ability to hold his own.
"Ah, I'll just let things take their course. After all, I've always been pretty lucky. If all else fails, I can activate Strong Luck. Maybe that'll help me find some clues," Desterie said with a listless smile.
Just then, inside his Soul Space, the Companion White Jade gradually brightened, its dull surface filling with light.
The energy expended by the last use of Foresight had recovered!
The instant the Foresight ability recovered, Desterie felt Fate stir once more, sending a tremor through his soul.
"So smooth?" Desterie was pleasantly surprised as he examined the Companion White Jade inwardly. Unlike Soul Protection, which was always active, and Strong Luck, which he had to activate himself, Foresight had once gone as long as ten million years without a peep. Yet now, it had reacted repeatedly in quick succession.
"Perhaps there's new information about that last Supreme God Token."
With that thought, Desterie activated Foresight once again without hesitation.
In his consciousness, the illusory gate opened once more. The terrifying Strange Torrent swept Desterie into its depths, leaving him no room to struggle. Yet the chains of starlight born from the white jade still protected him firmly, tugging him along.
The scene showed a place Desterie had never visited. Terrifying spatial rifts were scattered everywhere, high in the sky and deep underground. Two channels as brilliant as Star Rivers stretched across this perilous space, each radiating distant, multicolored light.
In stark contrast to the brilliant starlight and multicolored glow was the slaughter: ceaseless, endless battle and killing.
"Is this the Plane Battlefield?"
Under cover of the multicolored streams of divine power from the Godheads flying everywhere, a strong man with blond hair and blue eyes, wearing a Golden Badge, suddenly sensed something flash past in a nearby spatial rift. Before he could investigate, a barrage of soul attacks engulfed him. His eyes dimmed, and he fell to the ground, becoming yet another cannon fodder casualty of the war.
The scene ended there. The next instant, Desterie's consciousness was pulled back.
Yet even though he had lived for thirty million years, Desterie was still stunned by what he had seen in Foresight, unable to recover from the shock.
The Star River channels and the widespread slaughter could only mean this was the Plane Battlefield. And judging by the scene, the channels were blazing with multicolored light—the signal that the thousand-year decisive battle had begun.
He recognized the blond, blue-eyed strong man. He was one of the Prefects of the Heavenly Realm, named Croken, and also the envoy of a Fate Sovereign of the Heavenly Realm.
It was perfectly normal for a Sovereign's envoy to take part in a Plane War. But for a strong man who wielded a Material Defense Sovereign Artifact and practiced the Fate Rule to be killed so easily—
It was hard to imagine any battle being this brutal apart from the war between the Heavenly Realm and the Netherworld.
Of course, what truly mattered was what Croken had glimpsed in passing. It was a gray, translucent, glasslike crystal shaped like a Godhead. It gave off a white glow and a powerful aura that couldn't be ignored, even in a Foresight vision!
There was no doubt about it: this was a Sovereign Spark, and one of the Fate attribute.
Although the representative colors of the Laws of Light and the Fate Rule were both white, there were subtle differences. Anyone with a little knowledge could tell them apart.
A Sovereign Spark!
A Supreme Treasure of the Coiling Dragon World, on par with the "Golden Core" of the saying, "Swallow a Golden Core, and your fate is yours to command, not Heaven's." Even a Lowgod Sovereign Spark, once refined, could lift its owner out of the mire and send them soaring into the heavens.
Before becoming a Sovereign, even Supreme God Tokens and Supreme Artifacts paled in comparison. Even Sovereigns had to consider the circumstances when choosing between a Supreme Artifact and a Sovereign Spark.
Desterie, who had still been uneasy about the Plane War, no longer hesitated.
How could one gain the tiger's cub without entering its lair?
However, taking part in the Plane War as a Highgod without a Dual-Defense Sovereign Artifact still carried the risk of being killed in a group attack, just like Croken.
It wasn't as if he could use Sovereign's Might around the clock. He wanted to, but he didn't have enough.
But there were very few ways to obtain a Sovereign Artifact. A Sovereign's envoy or relative might receive one, and battle merits from the Plane War could be exchanged for one—but only after the war ended. The remaining option was to claim an unguarded Sovereign Artifact left behind by a fallen Sovereign.
At present, the only option Desterie could pursue was the last one.
As it happened, Desterie knew of a powerful figure who had lived in seclusion for many years. The Soul Defense Sovereign Artifact she possessed had come from a fallen Sovereign. Although he really didn't want to face her, he had to grit his teeth and do it for the sake of his future.
In the Earth Divine Plane, Xuanjin Mountain was not especially tall. Yet the entire mountain range was enveloped by a strange, powerful gravity, as if a Seven-Star expert were continuously using the profound mystery of Gravity.
This gravity posed no challenge to Desterie. As a powerful expert whose Destruction Rule was one step from Paragon and whose Fate Rule was on par with that of a powerful Asura, he could easily resist the gravitational field.
As he strolled in, a clear voice rang out when he neared the summit. "Hmm? Our genius Desterie—what brings you to a desolate place like mine?"
At last, he had received a "greeting." Desterie drew a breath. "Dalayer, when an old friend comes to visit, couldn't you at least come out to see him?"
"I was afraid you wouldn't want to see me. Since you do, I'll come out!"
As her voice fell, a golden fluid began gathering in the ground, then bubbled and flowed upward. As it continued to gather, the gravity of the entire Xuanjin Mountain kept weakening, until the golden fluid had completely emerged from the ground and the gravity was no different from that of the surrounding area.
The golden fluid continued to condense and take shape, eventually turning into a charming young girl.
When Desterie saw Dalayer's appearance, his eyes widened in disbelief.
"What, don't you recognize me?" Dalayer was quite pleased with Desterie's expression and deliberately teased him.
