Background / History

Uthred was Hell’s “First Life,” a Wukun divine beast who became renowned after surviving a siege by the Sacred Twenty-Eight Clans and counter-killing his attackers. The loss of those clans’ strongest fighters weakened their control over Hell and established Uthred as its foremost expert. 162

During Desterie’s intervention in the past, Uthred was a powerful Destruction-rule High-God with a violent reputation but was decisively defeated and humiliated by Desterie. To survive, he publicly swore to the Supreme God of Fate that he would never again be Desterie’s enemy. His fury afterward was redirected at the High-Gods who had witnessed his defeat; he used his Wukun soul threads and spear to massacre many of them. 163

After becoming a Sovereign, Uthred served as Hell’s dominant authority and commanded the Four Divine Beasts. He pursued Supreme God Tokens, ordered Xingyi to stop Desterie’s escape, and became increasingly distrustful of the Four Divine Beasts when they concealed information about the Supreme God Mirror. 34 42 67

His conflict with Desterie escalated from political pressure and attempted ambushes into open warfare.
