Background / History
Orloff was born in a Material Plane and used the Bula Clan’s innate talent to suppress its opposition and establish an invincible reputation. Having reached the Five-Fusion Peak of the Fate Rule, he grew dissatisfied with ordinary cultivation and devoted himself to investigating the limits of the universe, Spatial Turbulence, Laws, Rules, divine beasts, and special lifeforms. 153
He became a Paragon High-God of Fate before the descent of Sovereign Sparks. His breakthrough coincided with Desterie’s transmigration into that era, a connection Desterie considered too precise to be coincidence. 157
After becoming the Sovereign of Fate, Orloff established himself at Xingdou Mountain in the Heavenly Realm. Although widely reputed as gentle and benevolent, he ruthlessly killed anyone who contested a Sovereign Spark within his territory. 156
Appearance
Orloff usually appears as a kind-looking elderly man with white hair, white eyebrows, and a long beard. His gentle smile and composed bearing contrast sharply with the severity he displays when research, Sovereign Sparks, or his secrets are threatened. 87 188
- White hair, eyebrows, and beard. 87 188
- Frequently strokes his beard while thinking or speaking. 94 157
- Maintains a serene, scholarly demeanor even in dangerous negotiations. 24 157
- Resides amid the exotic flora, captive divine beasts, and special lifeforms of Xingdou Mountain’s Assorted Garden. 87
Personality
Orloff is defined by intellectual curiosity. He values unexplained phenomena and long-term research more than immediate political profit, and he is willing to preserve dangerous people such as Desterie if they may reveal a mystery worth studying. 22 95
His public image as the “good guy” Orloff is deceptive. He can be patient, diplomatic, and willing to compromise, but he also plots to obtain bloodlines, imprisons rare lifeforms for experimentation, and kills Sovereigns when it serves his objectives. 16 24 87 182
He is pragmatic under overwhelming pressure. When Desterie exposes his connection to Augusta and threatens his life, Orloff chooses survival and swears that neither he nor his divine clones will ever become Desterie’s enemies. 157
Abilities & Skills
Fate Rule Mastery
Orloff is a Paragon-level master of the Fate Rule whose techniques combine defense, prediction, and manipulation of favorable outcomes.
- Net of Fate — A woven Fate Sovereign Power barrier capable of resisting Uthred’s Soul Prison and the attacks that follow it. 96
- Destined Fate — Alters the surrounding field so calamities and attacks are diverted away from him, allowing an apparently unavoidable strike to miss by a narrow margin. 209
- His Fate techniques were sufficient to make Uthred’s attacks miss even while Orloff appeared not to move. 209
Soul Defense
Orloff chose a Supreme Artifact specialized in soul defense despite Fate Sovereigns already excelling in that field.
- His Supreme Soul Defense Artifact renders even Uthred’s direct soul attack ineffective. 97
- He often entrusts the artifact to Augusta rather than carrying it himself. 93 126
- His base Willpower and Fate mastery still make his soul defense formidable when the artifact is absent. 93 94
Samsara Golden Body
Orloff is believed to have acquired Haiye’s Golden Core and developed the Samsara Golden Body, an enhancement intended to multiply material defense enormously.
- The Golden Core could gradually be absorbed through soul power, causing the body’s skin, flesh, and bones to become golden. 59
- Full absorption alongside Sovereign Artifact-level physical conditioning was calculated to increase material defense by nearly a thousandfold. 59
- Orloff’s unusual preference for a soul-defense Supreme Artifact is attributed to confidence in this physical defense. 59
Research
Orloff is one of the setting’s foremost researchers of bloodlines, innate talents, and cosmic mysteries.
- Studies divine beasts and special lifeforms held in Xingdou Mountain’s Assorted Garden. 87
- Investigates the essence blood and innate abilities of the Four Divine Beasts. 87
- Has researched the Long-Ear Clan’s transforming bloodline for trillions of years. 205
- Developed a method combining a Phoenix Flower Bud, Long-Ear essence blood, and Light Sovereign Power. 205
- Proposed that killing a plane’s corresponding “First Life” could improve a being’s innate talent; he attributes his own Paragon breakthrough partly to killing the Heavenly Realm’s Nine-Tail. 158 207
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Supreme Soul Defense Artifact — A Supreme Artifact normally held by Augusta for protection. 93 126
- Golden Core — A Heaven-and-Earth exotic item originally obtained by Haiye and later acquired by Orloff; associated with the Samsara Golden Body. 59
- Sovereign Sparks — Trades and distributes Sovereign Sparks to advance his and Augusta’s interests. 194 195
Relationships
- Augusta — His divine clone. Orloff protects Augusta, supplies him with a Radiant Highgod Sovereign Spark, and advises him to conceal their connection. 93 157 195
- Desterie — Initially an adversary and research subject of intense interest. After Desterie defeats him and exposes his Bula Clan secret, Orloff swears eternal non-enmity and later shares research results in exchange for protection and resources. 122 157 195
- Iluka — Former enemy tied to Haiye’s death. Orloff attempts to kill him, then offers an Edict of Destruction Chief God Spark to settle their conflict. 18 24
- Haiye — Former Sovereign of Light killed by Orloff; Haiye’s Sovereign Spark and Golden Core subsequently benefited Orloff. 41 59
- Uthred — Long-standing rival. Their clashes test Orloff’s Fate techniques, soul defense, and material defense. 97 209
- Polk — Associate and subordinate who reports on Desterie and participates in Orloff’s schemes. 87
- Boteer — Fate-aligned subordinate involved in Heavenly Realm preparations. 9 21
- Manlu — Fate Sovereign subordinate who recruited Iluka for the Plane War. 9 21
Story Role / Major Arcs
Plane War and Iluka Conflict
Orloff leads the Heavenly Realm’s preparations for the Plane War, seeking powerful participants and hoping to secure a ten-win streak that would grant the Fate Sovereigns additional Willpower. 8 9
After Iluka’s actions cost the Fate lineage Willpower, Orloff attempts to kill him personally. Lilith and Desterie intervene, forcing Orloff to negotiate instead. 18 He later descends through a projection avatar and offers Iluka an Edict of Destruction Chief God Spark to bury their past conflict. 24
Rivalry with Uthred
Uthred publicly questions whether Orloff possesses his Supreme Soul Defense Artifact, nearly exposing Orloff’s relationship with Augusta. Orloff ultimately permits Uthred to attack him, proving the artifact’s effectiveness and decisively frustrating his rival. 93 94 97
Later, after Uthred reaches Paragon status, the two fight again. Orloff withstands Uthred’s physical assault and demonstrates Destined Fate, causing Uthred’s seemingly certain killing strike to miss. 209
Defeat and Oath to Desterie
Before becoming a Sovereign, Orloff guards a gestating Fate Sovereign Spark at Xingdou Mountain. Desterie confronts him, overwhelms his soul with a single petal-based technique, then restores him from the brink of death. 156 157
Desterie forces Orloff to swear to the Supreme God of Fate that neither he nor any divine clone will ever be Desterie’s enemy. The oath becomes the central limitation on Orloff’s later actions. 157 186
Research Pact
Seeking a Radiant Highgod Sovereign Spark for Augusta, Orloff negotiates with Desterie. He agrees to share all future research results and to recover an Earth High-level Sovereign Spark when Desterie orders it. 194 195
Under Desterie’s direction, Orloff intensifies his research into the Long-Ear Clan and produces tangible results through the use of a Phoenix Flower Bud, Long-Ear essence blood, and Light Sovereign Power. 195 205
Notable Quotes
“Who does not wish to live?” 157
“Uthred, let me also show you what is the most mysterious and unfathomable Fate!” 209
Trivia
