Just as Wusennuo, his face filled with murderous intent, prepared to fly toward Linley, he heard a very familiar voice. "Wusennuo, where do you think you're going?"
Wusennuo immediately turned toward the voice and saw Bolan, his silver hair flowing, with both Bloodslayers already drawn. Terrified out of his wits, he did not hesitate for even a moment before flying straight toward the entrance.
From the third floor, Linley suddenly spotted his eldest brother and was about to greet him when he saw Bolan's cold expression and the blood-red longsword that had long remained sheathed in his hand. Bolan charged directly at a sinister-looking middle-aged man. The sinister man fled the instant he saw Bolan. Judging by his speed, he too was a Saint-level expert.
Delia and the two servants on the second floor were equally astonished. They knew Bolan was powerful, but they had not expected him to be this powerful. Another Saint-level expert, already renowned across the continent, did not even dare exchange blows with him and fled outright, looking utterly panicked.
Cesar, seated nearby, laughed even more happily when he saw Bolan make his move and Wusennuo flee in disarray.
The two flew straight out of the Proulx Gallery's main hall. Wusennuo, less than a hundred meters ahead of Bolan, roared, "Bolan Baruch, do you truly want an endless feud with the Radiant Church?" After shouting that, Wusennuo accelerated even further.
"Heh." Bolan did not directly answer Wusennuo's question. He simply pushed his speed to its limit and caught up with Wusennuo moments later. There was nothing for Bolan and the Radiant Church to discuss. From the moment Bolan's mother had been sacrificed, the Radiant Church and the Baruch Clan had already formed a blood feud that could end only with one side's destruction.
Seeing Bolan close to within ten meters in mere moments, Wusennuo knew he could not escape this disaster. He decisively stopped, drew a shortsword, and charged at Bolan! Bolan swung his blood-red sword, snapping Wusennuo's shortsword in two. The remaining sword energy did not slow as it slashed across Wusennuo's completely exposed chest, carving a deep, bloody wound into it. Wusennuo cried out in agony.
"Bolan Baruch, the Radiant Church will never let you go!" Ignoring Wusennuo's wailing like a defeated cur, Bolan cut off his head with a single stroke. After taking the spatial ring from his finger, Bolan flew straight back to the Proulx Gallery.
As for the Radiant Church's experts, let them come.
From the time Bolan flew out to pursue Wusennuo until he returned, still completely spotless, less than three minutes had passed.
"Big Brother, who was that man just now? Was he your enemy?" Linley asked in confusion.
"Yes. That man was from the Radiant Church, a mortal enemy of our family. Killing him this time was merely collecting a little interest." Seeing Linley's concern, Bolan waved a hand and smiled.
"When there's time, I'll tell you everything about our family," Bolan said. Then he looked at the people who had yet to leave the gallery and tossed Wusennuo's spatial ring to Delia. "A Saint-level member of the Radiant Church should have quite a few good things, right?" Bolan said with a smile.
Delia shyly glanced at Linley before handing the spatial ring to the confused Linley. It was as though the elders of the man's family had given the woman a gift upon meeting her, and she naturally passed it to the man for safekeeping. Seeing this, Bolan burst into laughter, feeling even more satisfied with his future sister-in-law.
Linley, however, was completely dumbfounded. How did Big Brother know Delia? Someone from the Radiant Church had a feud with our family? Why did Big Brother give that spatial ring to Delia? And why did Delia give it to me? Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to do? The two of them had completely scrambled his brain...
Seeing Linley's expression full of questions yet unsure where to begin, Bolan said, "Tonight, when we return, I'll tell you everything you want to know."
Delia had remained quietly beside Linley after giving him the spatial ring, and her shy expression made Bolan laugh aloud. "Delia is the sister-in-law I approve of. You'd better not bully her in the future." Linley immediately understood why Bolan had tossed such a precious spatial ring to Delia, and why Delia had then handed it over to him.
He had always known that Delia liked him, and he had a favorable impression of her as well. It was only that Alice had stood between them before. Now that Alice was going to marry someone else, and he had emerged from that failed relationship, it was time to embrace the life ahead.
"Take Delia out for a walk. Cesar and I still have some things to discuss," Bolan urged.
Seeing that the two Saint-level experts present still had matters to discuss, everyone else found excuses to take their leave. The entire gallery soon became empty.
Seeing Bolan use him as an excuse, Cesar laughed. "You little brat really aren't honest at all. You actually dared use your old brother as a shield. You're asking for a beating." As he spoke, he pretended to get angry and raised a hand as if to strike.
Bolan immediately surrendered. Seeing two of the continent's peak figures fooling around and joking like children was rather amusing. After all, both of them were first-rate killers. Unfortunately, there was no one nearby to witness it. Perhaps men remained boys until the day they died.
"I still have to thank you for protecting them this time, Brother Cesar," Bolan said solemnly.
"You call me big brother, so it's only natural. Besides, nothing happened, did it?" Cesar said nonchalantly.
The two exchanged glances, then immediately burst into laughter. Wasn't that how friendship worked? No words needed, yet each would stand by the other through life and death.
After chatting for a while longer, Cesar took his leave. He still had matters to attend to. He had only stopped in the Fenlai Kingdom because he had heard that an unparalleled stone sculpture was being auctioned. As a fellow stone-sculpture enthusiast, he naturally had no reason to miss such a grand auction. He had not expected to miss out on the sculpture yet meet a true genius—no, a monster. At such a young age, Bolan already stood on the same level as old fellows like them. Cesar remembered that he had been in his forties or fifties when he broke through to the Saint level. It had taken him nearly several centuries more to reach the Saint-level limit, and then over five thousand years had passed before he finally touched the threshold of the God-level.
After seeing Cesar off, Bolan returned directly to the hotel where Linley was staying. In his room, he continued comprehending the Mysteries of the Laws while waiting for Linley's return.
At eight that evening, Linley returned to the hotel. Bolan did not ask about what had happened between the young couple. He merely told Linley how their mother had been killed and about the clashes with the Radiant Church during this period. By the time the brothers finished talking, it was already late at night. Bolan refused Linley's request to stay and seek revenge with him. He only told Linley to leave the Fenlai Kingdom after resting and travel elsewhere for training, returning to help him only after becoming capable of standing on his own.
Although Linley was still unwilling to accept this after hearing his eldest brother's words, he could only obey. He knew that he was not strong enough yet. At the very least, he needed to reach the Saint level before he could help his brother seek revenge against the Radiant Church.
The next day, Linley left the Fenlai Kingdom with Bebe and the shrunken Spine-backed Iron-armored Dragon, Sadius, and began his training journey. Bolan knew that he had no idea how many years would pass before they met again. He then found another secluded place and resumed his secluded cultivation.
Until this day in the year 10000 of the Yulan Calendar, when Bolan suddenly saw countless magical beasts emerging from the depths of the Magical Beast Mountain Range. Bolan knew.
The divine beast Dilin had arrived.
