Background / History
Yao Yue was an imperial princess of the Jia Ma Empire and the younger sister of Yao Ye. When Queen Medusa entered the imperial palace to seize the sisters for Xiao Chen, Yao Yue openly rejected the prospect of marrying a Snake-Person. Her resistance failed after Medusa suppressed the sisters’ Dou Qi and abducted them to the Snake-People Tribe. 29
At the tribe, Yao Yue remained hostile toward both her captors and the arranged marriage. She attempted to stop Yao Ye’s wedding to Xiao Chen, warning him not to mistreat her sister, but could not overcome the tribe’s authority. 32
Her view of Xiao Chen began to change after she witnessed him refine a Dragon-Tiger Pill with the Green Lotus Core Flame and learned that he was a seventh-rank alchemist. Recognizing that his achievements surpassed those of Jia Ma Empire’s leading alchemists, she became interested in learning alchemy from him. 34 35 36
Yao Yue married Xiao Chen in a grand Snake-People Tribe ceremony. Following the marriage, her cultivation rose from Dou Master to Nine-Star Dou Spirit overnight, reinforcing her suspicion that Xiao Chen was responsible for the extraordinary gains experienced by his wives. 36
When Jia Xingtian and the Jia Ma Empire experts attacked the tribe to recover the captives, Yao Yue joined Yao Ye, Yun Yun, and Nalan Yanran in pleading for their lives. After Xiao Chen persuaded Medusa to spare them, she thanked him for saving her imperial grandfather. 38 39
Personality
Yao Yue is proud, outspoken, and initially strongly prejudiced against the Snake-People Tribe. Even while powerless, she refused to accept her arranged marriage quietly and directly confronted Xiao Chen on Yao Ye’s behalf. 29 32
Her strongest early loyalty is to Yao Ye. She worries about her sister’s treatment, shares major developments with her first, and relies on her reassurance while held in the tribe. 32 34 37
Yao Yue is deeply interested in alchemy and becomes openly enthusiastic when Xiao Chen offers to teach her. His guidance, skill, and patience earn her admiration, gradually replacing her initial hostility with warmth and respect. 35 36 40
She also grows jealous when Xiao Chen brings other women to the tribe, though she repeatedly denies being jealous when Yao Ye teases her about it. 44 74
