Background
Tang Wulin began as a student with only rank-three soul power and Blue Silver Grass, believing himself inferior to gifted classmates such as Qiangu Wuji and Gu Yue. His physical endurance proved abnormal even before the Golden Dragon King bloodline fully manifested, allowing him to compete with Qiangu Wuji in a prolonged running test. 15 16
His resentment toward Gu Yue and Qiangu Wuji intensified after Gu Yue interrogated and assaulted him over the Golden Dragon King’s power. When Tang Ziran and Lang Yue disappeared, Tang Wulin blamed Qiangu Wuji, who deliberately allowed suspicion and hostility toward himself to grow. 32 35
During the following years, Tang Wulin broke his second seal, gained a thousand-year soul spirit, and rose to the three-ring Soul Elder stage. He encountered a mysterious faction later identified with the Evil Soul Masters, whose influence helped shape his pursuit of revenge and power. 36 43 57
At East Sea Academy, he adopted an openly ruthless worldview: the strong should rule the weak. He became hostile toward fellow students, challenged for authority, and repeatedly clashed with Qiangu Wuji. 43 47 51
Appearance
Tang Wulin is a sturdy youth whose appearance changes noticeably when he draws upon his power.
- His martial soul is mutated Blue Silver Grass, described as arm-thick and covered with thorns. 43
- A dark-golden dragon scale appears on his forehead during Golden Dragon King bloodline manifestations. 24
- His soul power appears red rather than the usual blue to Qiangu Wuji’s Heavenly Six Eyes. 43
- When using heightened bloodline power, his body enlarges and develops dense golden scales. 50 124
- After Qiangu Wuji’s beating, he is seen covered in bandages and bruises. 57
Personality
Tang Wulin is determined, prideful, and intensely unwilling to accept weakness. Early on, he seeks to test the gap between himself and Qiangu Wuji rather than concede defeat; later, this drive hardens into fixation on surpassing—or destroying—Qiangu Wuji and Gu Yue. 15 17 36
He views strength as the basis of authority and explicitly advocates a “law of the jungle” among Soul Masters. This outlook leads him to attempt to dominate his dormitory and treat weaker students as obligated to obey him. 43
Despite his brutality, Tang Wulin experiences moments of moral uncertainty over the lives taken to gain power. Old Tang repeatedly reframes those actions as necessary sacrifices, allowing Tang Wulin to rationalize increasingly ruthless conduct. 57 68
