Background / History

Tang San is a reborn God King who awakens in his younger body in Holy Soul Village, within the Heaven Dou Empire. Retaining memories of his previous life, he intends to repeat his former path, reunite with Xiao Wu, reclaim power, and eventually oppose Martial Soul Hall. His early cultivation and self-created soul skills make Tang Hao suspect that an unknown entity inhabits his son’s body. 4 20

As a child, Tang San learns blacksmithing under Tang Hao’s demand that he complete ten thousand hammer strikes. At his martial soul awakening, he manifests Blue Silver Grass and Innate Full Soul Power; he later tells Tang Hao that he possesses Twin Martial Souls. 4 22

His circumstances deteriorate as the Haotian Sect is destroyed and its connection to Evil Soul Masters becomes public. Tang San fears that revealing the Clear Sky Hammer will invite continent-wide pursuit and undermine his plans to gather allies against Martial Soul Hall. 46

After absorbing spirit-beast bloodlines in the Soul Hunting Forest, his Blue Silver Grass changes drastically. Its manifestation becomes a toxic, tentacle-like extension of his hands rather than ordinary grass, and the transformation also leaves him disfigured. 124 153

Tang San later joins the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect for resources and political backing. He offers Tang Sect arts, self-created soul skills, and hidden weapons, though Ning Fengzhi and the sect’s elders consider many of these offerings impractical. 237 244

Appearance

Tang San is disfigured and commonly conceals his face with a ghost mask. His martial soul transformation has made his hands appear inhuman and tentacle-like. 153 250

  • His right hand is covered in fine black scales and resembles a tentacle. 124
  • The appendage has suckers containing small teeth and toxin-filled bumps that can explode. 124
  • His altered hands are recognizable enough to identify him publicly. 431
  • Sword Douluo Chen Xin forcibly removes his Sea God Mask and prohibits him from wearing masks thereafter. 250

Personality

Tang San is highly self-assured, strategic, and intensely concerned with recovering the status he held in his previous life. He frequently relies on past-life knowledge when making plans, pursuing opportunities such as the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, divine positions, and powerful martial soul modifications. 290 328 456

His confidence is repeatedly challenged by defeats and public humiliation. He can become resentful, emotionally volatile, and fixated on recognition, though he often regains composure and continues pursuing his objectives. 278 395

He is willing to manipulate allies and relatives when he believes it serves his goals. This includes using Xiao Wu’s soul essence without her consent and exerting control over Tang Wulin and Tang Xuanyu. 202 439 456

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San originally possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, both supported by Innate Full Soul Power. He later alters his second martial soul into the Trident to make it more conspicuous and useful for gaining status and resources. 22 202 217

  • Clear Sky Hammer — regarded as his proudest martial soul, but he fears exposing it because of its association with Tang Hao and the Haotian Sect. 46
  • Trident — has no spirit rings when first revealed, but possesses potent innate control; Tang San claims that, at his current strength, it can restrain anyone below Spirit King once. 217
  • Martial soul modification — a method normally accessible only to god-level powerhouses; its soul erosion cost is paid with Xiao Wu’s soul essence. 202

Altered Blue Silver Grass / Asura God Hand

Tang San’s transformed Blue Silver Grass manifests through his hands as black-scaled tentacles with extreme toxicity. 124

  • Can elongate and bind targets or objects. 124
  • Carries toxins potent enough to alarm Tang San himself, despite his poison expertise. 124
  • Can manipulate hidden weapons more effectively. 124
  • Cannot be used to negate elemental damage through the Asura God Hand form. 247

Mysterious Heaven Skill

A cultivation technique Tang San practices from the Xuantian Sect/Tang Sect tradition. It improves soul-power circulation and is described as highly adaptable across attributes. 201 313

  • Enables Tang San to raise a Soft Bone Rabbit Spirit Ring’s age outside a God Trial. 201
  • Supports his cultivation and other techniques. 313
  • Does not overcome the fundamental limitation of lacking Innate Soul Power. 313

Hidden Weapons and Tang Sect Arts

Tang San relies heavily on hidden weapons and Tang Sect techniques, treating them as core elements of his fighting style. 244 299

  • Uses hidden weapons as a final trump card in battle. 318
  • Possesses movement- and eye-type self-created soul skills considered refined by Tang Hao. 20
  • Uses Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track for evasive movement, though it does not increase actual movement speed. 412
  • His belief that Tang Sect techniques are exclusively his is challenged when others demonstrate or improve upon them. 446

Spirit Skills

  • Void — his third spirit ability makes his body immune to non-energy physical attacks and reduces energy damage by fifty percent. 201
  • Spider Web Bind — fourth spirit-ring skill used to restrain opponents. 398
  • Boundless Sea Wave — can be dispelled when Tang San’s own strength is insufficient. 267
  • Thousand Years of Emptiness — used against the Three Elements students but resisted or blocked. 412
  • Ring Detonation — detonates spirit rings to replenish spirit power; Tang San can safely manage only two rings before serious harm becomes a concern. 398 399

Spiritual Power and Divine Connection

Tang San possesses a Sea of Consciousness containing a Blood-Colored Small Sword, identified with the Asura God’s divine sense. 368 410

  • Can use spiritual power offensively, including through the Purple Demon Eye. 396
  • The Asura God can take control of Tang San’s body in critical circumstances. 412 444
  • The relationship is uneasy: Asura treats Tang San as a pawn and does not always intervene immediately. 412
  • Tang San continues to pursue the Sea God and Asura God positions. 395

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Ghost/Sea God Mask — used to hide his disfigurement until Chen Xin removes it. 250
  • Hidden weapons — Tang Sect-style weapons used in combat and offered to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 244 299
  • One-Word Battle Armor — forged under Tang San’s direction; completed without armored hand sections because materials were unavailable. 341
  • Soul storage ring — given to him by Wan Yao Wang while leaving the Star Dou Great Forest. 200
  • Blood-Colored Small Sword — damaged divine presence within his Sea of Consciousness. 375

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — father; initially suspects Tang San is an entity inhabiting his son’s body, later places hope in Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls. Tang San grieves Tang Hao’s death. 4 22 153
  • Xiao Wu — beloved from Tang San’s past life and later his wife; Tang San seeks to save her, but also harms her by using her life force and soul essence for his own recovery and martial soul modification. 200 202 436
  • Yu Xiaogang — former teacher; their relationship deteriorates after Tang San concludes that Yu’s theories deceived and hindered him. Tang San publicly disowns and beats him. 218 238
