Nature and Origin

A Martial Soul is the manifestation of the deepest part of a person's soul. Although rooted in the soul, it also affects the body; Beast Martial Soul possessors commonly develop stronger physiques, while inherited bloodlines can in turn shape the soul of later generations into the same Martial Soul. 72

According to Gu Yuena, the Dragon God inscribed laws into the planet's origin so that any existence in the world could appear as a Martial Soul. The original system was bloodline-based, with cultivation functioning as a form of ancestral reversion. 393

Awakening and Inheritance

Martial Souls are awakened in childhood, commonly around age six. Their influence can be apparent even before awakening: children with powerful Martial Souls may possess physical fitness beyond that of ordinary peers. 1 226

Cultivation and Combat

Spirit Rings and Spirit Skills

Spirit Rings are attached to a Martial Soul to provide Spirit Skills. Their age and quality directly affect a Spirit Master's combat power; Tang San modified the ring age of his Asura God Hand to purple. 201

• A Twin Martial Soul user should not attach Spirit Rings to every Martial Soul simultaneously; historical precedent treats this as dangerous. 276
• Spirit Skills generally require an attribute basis from either the Martial Soul or the hunted Spirit Beast. Qian Ningshuang's unusual skills are an exception because Holy Sword Durandal predetermined them. 11
• A Martial Soul's form need not dictate all of its applications. Attribute development can prioritize the user's elemental attribute over the Martial Soul's physical form. 253

Martial Soul Avatar

A Martial Soul Avatar is a high-level manifestation of a Martial Soul. Angel Martial Soul users can employ at least three forms of Avatar, including merging with the user or manifesting a giant angel phantom. 420

Qian Daoliu's Angel Avatar appears as a golden-armored, six-winged angel phantom formed from light, whose wings produce both powerful winds and a tranquil radiance. 420

Domains and Fusion

Some Martial Souls possess or grant Domains. The Angel Domain is described as an expansion of the Angel God's will rather than solely the wielder's own will. 421

Martial Soul Fusion Skills combine compatible Martial Souls into a stronger joint manifestation. Failed evolution can occur when a Martial Soul lacks sufficient resources or cultivation to complete its development, while a successful fusion may manifest an evolved form using one participant's Martial Soul as the core. 227 266

Alteration and Evolution

Martial Souls are not immutable. They can be shattered, augmented, evolved, stripped, or altered by sufficiently powerful methods. The existence of god-bestowed Martial Souls and evolution through immortal herbs demonstrates that a Martial Soul can change. 71

Certain Martial Souls resist reforging. Qian Ningshuang's Abyss Flower cannot be reforged, while Qian Renxue's Angel Martial Soul is likewise considered unlikely to be alterable by ordinary means. 73

Oath Emblem and Paladins

The Oath Emblem is a Martial Soul-derived construct created by Qian Ningshuang and Holy Sword Durandal. It possesses some Martial Soul, Spatial Soul Tool, and Stigmata characteristics, but is not itself a usable Martial Soul. 72

• It cannot be directly manifested or equipped with Spirit Rings. 73
• It acts as an auxiliary cultivation system that can be used simultaneously with a person's original Martial Soul. 73
• It grants an enhanced sixth sense and can shield its bearer from Martial Soul rank and bloodline suppression. 72 230

Paladins retain their original Martial Souls and Spirit Rings, but their Oath Emblems provide an additional path of cultivation and combat. This allows even people with poor—or absent—Innate Soul Power to cultivate if they can meet the oath requirements. 81
