The shaking finally stopped, and a cacophony of shouts traveled through the Twin Stars' internal tactical network.
Although casualties inside the base were relatively light, its Shield system had been destroyed, and most of its defensive emplacements had been knocked out!
Despite the sudden attack, the Twin Stars soldiers stationed throughout the base still had their command system and short-range communications network intact. Alarmed but not panicked, they began methodically reorganizing their defensive lines.
But before the Twin Stars people could regroup, the next wave of Kara People attacks arrived...
Above the base, countless sacs grew at a speed visible to the naked eye on the surfaces of the vines that blotted out the sky. Once they reached the size of washbasins, they suddenly burst with a pop!

Hundreds of black figures suddenly darted out through gaps in the vines and leaped straight down from dozens of meters above, swooping like hawks toward the Twin Stars soldiers on the ground!
A closer look revealed that these airborne black figures were humanoid warriors clad in black full-body armor.
The black armor resembled a full-body skintight suit, with bone-like, grayish-white sections covering the joints and vital areas. Each warrior held a pair of slightly curved black blades, four fingers wide, that looked as though they had grown out of their arms.
