Background

Big Mom presided over the Charlotte Family and Totto Land, maintaining political and underworld influence through events such as her annual tea parties. Her children and officers feared her anger, and her authority shaped their decisions even when they doubted her plans 204 210 413.

She had taken at least twenty-six husbands. Taru, her twenty-sixth husband and the father of several of her children, received a public funeral on Cake Island; Big Mom was not mourning him, however, but was instead enraged that her children had not yet captured Romanov Noah for her 204.

Appearance

Big Mom was a massive, pink-haired woman whose exceptional toughness earned her the epithet “Iron Balloon.” At forty-eight, her once-youthful beauty had faded beneath a plump, distorted figure 210 259.

Big Mom was possessive, volatile, and intensely prideful. Her fixation on Noah eclipsed concern for Taru’s death, and she threatened Perospero when he failed to deliver Noah to Cake Island quickly enough 204. She regarded forced marriage as a means of claiming Noah for the Charlotte Family, insisting that her children not harm her intended husband 204 211.

Her children feared disappointing her, often choosing obedience over their own judgment. Katakuri, Smoothie, Oven, and Perospero were all pressured by the consequences of her anger during the failed attempt to capture Noah 210.

Despite her brutality, Big Mom’s rage intensified when she saw Katakuri, Smoothie, Streusen, and the other Charlotte fighters defeated. Their condition pushed her into a final desperate assault against Noah 418.

Attempted Marriage to Noah

After learning that Noah had entered the New World, Big Mom ordered Perospero, Katakuri, and Smoothie to capture him unharmed and bring him to Cake Island for marriage 204. She personally arrived after Katakuri failed to swiftly defeat him, immediately becoming captivated by Noah’s appearance 210.

When Noah resisted, Big Mom threatened the Marines and civilians aboard his warship, poisoned him through Custard, and had Mont-d’Or imprison him inside a book 211. Noah escaped after ensuring his companions could withdraw safely, destroyed Cake Castle, and vanished beneath the sea 216.

The system later registered Big Mom’s maximum favorability and a completed final conquest after Noah entered the wedding venue, but the relationship ended immediately because Noah did not reciprocate her feelings 217.

G-1 War and First Defeat

Big Mom entered the Marine–Beasts Pirates war by leaping from a Sky Island, intending to make a spectacular entrance and potentially crush both Kaido and Noah 258 259. She targeted Momousagi—who was occupying Noah’s body—over the destruction of Cake Castle and nearly killed her before Akainu intervened 259.

Big Mom later fought Noah and Akainu together. Though she remained physically dominant in direct exchanges, Noah’s regeneration and endurance stalled her long enough for Akainu to recover; the pair suppressed her and forced the pirate forces to retreat 262.

North Blue Rematch

Seeking revenge, Big Mom personally led the Charlotte Family to North Blue while Noah was away from Marine Headquarters 356. Their battle lasted seven days, during which Noah steadily exhausted her despite her durability, healing, and Homies 358 359.

Noah defeated her with Two-Sword Style: Endless Thunder, sending her into the sea. Zeus and Prometheus rescued her before the Marines could capture her, while Smoothie and Cracker were taken prisoner 360 361.

Fall of the Big Mom Pirates

Following her recovery and physical transformation, Big Mom hosted another tea party on Cake Island. Noah infiltrated the event under Stussy’s protection, revealed himself, and challenged her openly 414 415.

Big Mom was gradually overwhelmed even after the Charlotte Family abandoned single combat and attacked Noah together. Amande was killed, Katakuri was defeated, and the remaining commanders and Streusen were incapacitated 417 418.

With Conqueror’s Haki coating stronger than Big Mom’s, Noah finished the battle with Heaven-Shaking Thunderfall, manifesting a colossal lightning bear over Totto Land. Big Mom was incinerated, her Homies dissolved, and the Charlotte Family’s rule of Totto Land effectively collapsed 418.
