"Found it!"

Hermione slammed a thick old book meant for casual reading onto the table, rapidly flipping through its pages as she muttered:

"Nicolas Flamel is the only known maker of the Sorcerer's Stone!"

"It is a miraculous substance with astonishing properties. The Sorcerer's Stone can turn any metal into pure gold and can also produce the Elixir of Life, which makes whoever drinks it immortal."

The three of them thought of the corridor on the right side of the fourth floor—the dangerous room guarded by the Three-Headed Dog.

"That huge dog must be guarding Flamel's Sorcerer's Stone!"

"A stone that can make gold and let you live forever!" Harry said. "No wonder Snape is after it too! Anyone would want it!"

"No wonder we couldn't find Flamel in Studies in Recent Magical Developments," Ron said. "If he's already six hundred and sixty-five years old, he can't exactly count as recent, can he?"

The three of them felt they had uncovered the truth.

But after that, they froze again—so the whole matter was simply that Snape wanted the Sorcerer's Stone and had been injured by the Three-Headed Dog guarding it?

Then what about Professor Quirrell? Why had he attacked Harry?

They understood everything, yet seemed to have fallen into an even deeper mystery.

The Quidditch match drew closer and closer, and Harry became increasingly nervous.

Gryffindor's House Cup score had already fallen to fourth place, but that was not really important—the points from Quidditch matches converted to House Cup points at a one-to-one ratio.

In other words, as long as he caught the Golden Snitch in this match, he could win back the 150 points Damon had lost!

For that, Harry would have to give one hundred and twenty percent!

Even if Snape was the referee, even if Professor Quirrell might cast a spell behind the scenes for a second time—he no longer cared about any of it. He had to win those points back!

Hermione and Ron were on high alert. They kept a close watch on Professor Quirrell while also keeping an eye on Snape—although Damon said Snape was innocent, Hermione had clearly seen him casting a spell on Harry. Could he really have been kindly trying to help Harry?

According to Harry, he had been seeing Snape everywhere lately. That old bat seemed able to see through people's hearts—Harry even suspected Snape had seen through the fact that they knew about the Sorcerer's Stone.

While they were tense with worry, Damon, who had spent a full two months researching Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, finally tore himself away from the Room of Requirement. He took the manuscript of his paper, half a foot long and a centimeter thick, and handed it to Professor McGonagall.

"What is this?"

Professor McGonagall adjusted her glasses and looked solemnly at the manuscript Damon had handed her—ever since Damon had struck Malfoy in public, she had treated him with strict impartiality.

Though her fondness for Damon had not diminished in the slightest, the more so it was, the more determined she became to treat him sternly.

"Professor McGonagall, why not read it yourself?"

Damon smiled, apparently brimming with confidence in what he had submitted. He sat down in a chair as though nothing had happened and began using the Levitation Charm to pour himself tea and fetch biscuits.

Professor McGonagall could not help pursing her lips and shooting him a sidelong glance before picking up the paper. She had already decided that if the manuscript contained nothing more than a perfect assignment, she would not excuse Damon's careless attitude.

But when she opened to the first page and saw the title, she froze.

Transfiguration has always been an important field of research in the magical world, but ever since Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration was proposed, its Second Law has severely restricted its development: Transfiguration cannot completely alter an object's fundamental nature.

Theoretical Foundation:

1. Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, Second Law: Transfiguration cannot alter an object's essence. Any transfiguration is limited to appearance or structural levels; its essential attributes remain unchanged.

2. Microcosmic Incantation and Magical Order:

Microcosmic Incantation: A Charm that enables the caster to see and affect matter on a microscopic level, such as molecular and atomic structures. Through this spell, the caster can use Magical Order to adjust an object's internal structure rather than merely its outward form.

Magical Order: By precisely controlling the interactions between different magical elements, it enables the caster to alter the fundamental properties of matter at the level of magical effects, such as density, hardness, and chemical properties.

Professor McGonagall's breath quietly caught.

What was this child thinking? Breakthrough research on Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration? How dared he give it such a title?

Countless wizards had proposed hypotheses in this direction over the centuries, but even now, not a single one had completed such research!

Yet at that moment, she was unwilling to let even the slightest part of her attention drift away. She could not bear to spare Damon even a glance, fully immersing herself in the research before her.

Damon was unquestionably a genius. He had even recently accomplished animal-to-animal transfiguration.

When such a genius wrote such a serious paper, and Professor McGonagall discovered that the manuscript ran to dozens of pages, her anticipation immediately surged, and even the tip of her throat began to itch.
