"Damon, if I give it to you, can you settle it somewhere safe? If you can't manage either, I can only send it to Romania."
Hagrid looked sadly at Norbert, who clung tightly to Damon.
But he truly had no other choice. The Forbidden Forest was far too dangerous now; even unicorns had died inside it. If Norbert ran into someone malicious, it probably would not be able to withstand a Killing Curse.
"Oh—of course I can." Damon readily agreed.
If he did not need to consider Hagrid's feelings, settling Norbert by himself would actually have been even easier—the ready-made solution was right there. He only needed to imitate Newt Scamander's method and make a suitcase with an Undetectable Extension Charm.
Though that was seriously illegal.
Damon did not care.
At school, no one would interfere with him. Outside school, it was impossible for him to make any mistakes.
If—if he truly happened to be incredibly unlucky, with a one-in-ten-thousand chance of the Ministry of Magic obtaining evidence against him and going so far as to sentence him to Azkaban, he figured he could still escape—it would merely take some effort and time.
And that was judging by his current strength. By the day he was imprisoned, who knew how many Dumbledores his strength would be worth?
Azkaban wanted to hold him? Impossible.
"Once I've settled it, you can come visit it, Hagrid."
Damon pulled Norbert off his chest. The little creature protested against Damon's "atrocity" with cries and scattered sparks, constantly scratching at his chest. Its sharp claws had even roughed up the fine lining of Damon's clothes.
"Behave."
He gave the little fire dragon a knock on the head. Though it did not hurt, the little thing quieted down.
