Background / History

Yu Xiaogang is the younger son of Blue Lightning Tyrant Sect Master Yu Yuanzhen and the brother of Yu Dalong. His mutated Luo Sanpao martial soul and low innate soul power left him unable to pursue the sect’s expected path of strength, leading him to seek recognition through martial soul theory instead. He received the title “Grandmaster of Martial Soul Theory” for his research into two major theories. 24 37

After Bibi Dong rejected him in Martial Soul City, Xiaogang silently left the city without recognizing her vulnerability or the meaning behind her words. 17 He later became associated with Shrek Academy, where Tang San, Xiao Wu, Flender, and others initially defended his reputation despite growing public skepticism toward his theories. 24

At Notting Academy, Xiaogang intervened after Tang San killed the gatekeeper. He deduced that Tang San possessed Twin Martial Souls and used this discovery to offer formal apprenticeship, becoming Tang San’s master. 60

Comparison videos expose perceived weaknesses in Xiaogang’s theories and conduct, leading Shrek Academy teachers and students to question the title he had long held. Tang San, Xiao Wu, Flender, and others initially defended him on the grounds that he reached level 29 despite Luo Sanpao and half-level Innate Soul Power. 24

Tang San’s Master

Xiaogang identifies Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls at Notting Academy and takes him as a formal disciple. He directs Tang San to develop Blue Silver Grass around toughness and poison, then leads him into the Soul Hunting Forest to obtain the Datura Snake ring and the Bind soul skill. 60 61 62 63

Failed Teaching and Training

His choice of the Datura Snake ring is challenged after Qian Renchuan receives a superior first soul skill. Xiaogang nevertheless continues defending Bind as the strongest choice. 63 65

At Shrek Academy, his special training for the Seven Devils consists chiefly of sparring and weighted runs carrying stone-filled baskets. The routine exhausts the students and leaves little time for cultivation; Tang San and Zhao Wuji later point out that Xiaogang failed to use Zhao Wuji’s Gravity Control Spirit Skill as an available training resource. Attempts to Evolve Luo Sanpao

After witnessing Qian Xunji reshape and evolve the White World Luo Sanpao, Xiaogang becomes determined to evolve his own martial soul. His first attempt, funded by Flender, fails because Luo Sanpao cannot digest the Millennium Ginseng and dragon-beast meat. 67 72 73 75

He later returns to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Sect, where his parents and the elders arrange a public Martial Soul Ascension Ceremony. Despite fearing another failure, he is pressured to feed Luo Sanpao Dragon Blood Grass before representatives of major factions. 139 143 151 152

The ceremony becomes a disaster due to Luo Sanpao’s fart, severely damaging the sect’s reputation. Xiaogang, overwhelmed by disgrace, chooses to flee the sect. 154

White World Fate

The White World counterpart, known as Prisoner Xiao Gang, is revealed to have drugged and imprisoned Bibi Dong. The Black World Xiaogang panics when the footage is shown and later attempts to justify his counterpart’s actions as those of a man forced into a corner. 47 111

In the White World, Bibi Dong captures, tortures, and imprisons Prisoner Xiao Gang in the Calm Heart Chamber. His condition deteriorates until he is emaciated, scarred, numb, and terrified; Bibi Dong later brings his imprisoned family to the chamber. 107 111 125
