Background / History
Masaki Keigo was a university student who had only recently transmigrated when he began suffering recurring dreams of destroyed cities and monsters emerging from the sea. 72 He later used knowledge shared from other worlds to establish Sedis Corporation, becoming prominent in consumer technology and semiconductors through advances in artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and new materials. 82
His discovery of a Giant Stone Statue beneath Kumamoto City led him to construct an Animus machine capable of reading ultra-ancient genetic memories. Through those memories, he witnessed Gijera’s devastation, the civil war of the ancient Giants, and the experience of becoming light. 82 He subsequently joined the Earth Defense Force as a specially appointed technical expert and helped lay groundwork for humanity’s future defense infrastructure. 82
By the time of TPC and GUTS’s formation, Masaki had become a renowned inventor and GUTS scientific advisor. His technologies included commonly used electronic devices and PDIs, while he also contributed to the GUTS Wing system. 251 252 He withdrew from public TPC work for two years to develop the Light Particle Converter and investigate the power of Giants. 251
Appearance
Masaki is a strikingly handsome man with a composed, refined presence. In civilian settings, he is often seen in a white shirt or research uniform; his physique is noticeably muscular beneath his clothing. 251 257
- Wears glasses and a white lab coat in research-related records. 149
- Maintains a trained, athletic build despite his scientific career. 251 266
- As Impat, manifests as a white or white-and-silver Giant of Light. 250 632
- His enhanced form bears flowing red patterns and gold markings. 283
Personality
Masaki approaches danger as a problem to be understood, modeled, and solved. He regards Giants as a form of power humanity has not yet mastered rather than an inherently divine force. 267 This outlook drives both his scientific achievements and his willingness to develop weapons capable of confronting monsters directly.
He is exceptionally calm in crises, even when trapped beyond normal space-time or facing overwhelming opponents. 298 However, his urgency is rooted partly in fear of the unknown: the knowledge that ultra-ancient civilizations possessed superior technology—and still vanished—pushes him to prepare humanity before it is too late. 257
Though he supports strengthening humanity, Masaki is not indiscriminate about technological escalation. He argues for safeguards, remote self-destruct systems, and responsible use of dangerous creations, and later warns TPC against reckless weaponization and military bioengineering. 261 289 He rejects Gondo Kihachi’s plan to impose Giant power upon all humanity, refusing to sacrifice human emotion and life for an engineered “perfect” species. 636

Story Role / Major Arcs
Rise of TPC’s Scientist and Impat’s Awakening
Masaki establishes himself as one of humanity’s foremost technical minds, helps develop TPC’s technological foundation, and secretly researches the Giant Stone Statues beneath Kumamoto. 82 251 He activates the ancient statue and becomes Ultraman Impat, initially treating the Giant body as a powerful but limited platform that can be analyzed and improved. 250 624
Human Defense Projects
Refusing to rely solely on Ultraman, Masaki develops the Global Defense System, Project E, Evolver Unit-01, Bio-Armor, orbital elevators, and advanced energy weapons. 256 261 264 279 He supports global cooperation while opposing concentration of military power and uncontrolled bioengineering. 256 289
Conflict with the Dark Giants
After Camearra, Hudra, and Darramb abduct Daigo and Rena, Masaki enters their phase space and defeats Hudra and Darramb before revealing himself as Impat. 277 278 He later upgrades his transformation system using archived Giant data, allowing Impat to overwhelm the altered Kiranbo. 281 283
Gatanothor and the Quantum Empathy Network
When Gatanothor plunges humanity into despair, Masaki uses the completed space-elevator network and Max Power System to establish the Quantum Empathy Network. 640 The network carries Daigo’s pain and determination to people worldwide, awakening a collective light that enables Tiga’s miracle. 641
Interdimensional Traveler
A clash with Tartarus tears open space-time and strands Masaki beyond the Tiga universe. 298 He later cooperates with TLT against Dark Zagi’s influence, travels to Gaia’s world, mentors Takayama Gamu and Alchemy Stars, and continues reconstructing his inter-universe travel technology. 462 489 491
Evolution Beyond a Stone Statue
As synchronized gains awaken his ultra-ancient factor, Masaki ceases to be merely a human “pilot” of a Giant Stone Statue and evolves into a genuine Ultraman-like being of light. 624 625 This evolution allows him to directly manipulate energy and matter, transform without his device, and confront threats such as Gondo Kihachi’s Dark Giant project. 625 638
Trivia
- Masaki’s recurring nightmares began before he understood his connection to the ultra-ancient era. 72
- He replaces conventional sleep with meditation because deep sleep previously triggered bizarre dreams. 266
- He considers the original Giant bodies to be fundamentally fixed-performance “machines,” unlike natural Ultramen who can grow through training and battle. 624
- Despite being primarily known as a scientist, he is skilled enough in hand-to-hand combat to make Daigo associate his movements with Impat before the identity was confirmed. 266 267
