Zhang Qi exists through multiple counterparts in different worlds, who share information, theoretical technology, and cultivation knowledge through a mysterious common space. The Tang-Dynasty counterpart returns from one such exchange with knowledge ranging from Qi-refining techniques to interstellar-warship blueprints. 1037

NERV researcher

While working with NERV, Zhang Qi attended Dr. Naoko Akagi's funeral and immediately doubted the official explanation of an accidental death. He suspected Gendo's involvement because Naoko had completed the MAGI supercomputer ahead of schedule and retained primary control over its personality-based system. 76
