Background

Kirishima Ai is an Earth-born high school student whose parents divorced. She initially lives alone in a rental apartment near Kaedehara High School, supporting herself with money from her mother and income from a part-time job. Her younger sister, Kirishima Hina, lives with their mother and suffers from a disabling condition. 8 18

Before becoming a Magical Girl, Ai protected Hina during a major Monster incident when Magical Girls failed to arrive in time. The event left Hina severely affected and established Ai’s lasting desire to become someone who could protect her sister. 64 70 She later becomes a Magical Girl after meeting Takanashi Shiori and learning how to transform. 9
