Background / History

Kiriori lost both biological parents while still young. Her grandparents had already died, and her remaining relatives did not want to raise her; at their funeral, she described herself as “unwanted.” Haihara, a former colleague of Kiriori’s mother, offered to raise her despite being a university student with limited means. Kiriori chose adoption over her inheritance, and Haihara became her adoptive mother. 28 29

She grew into an exceptionally accomplished student. By age sixteen, she had joined the student council and was hosting school-festival events; later, she became Kaedehara High School’s student council president and top-ranked third-year student. 30 134

Before the main Magical Girl group formed, Kiriori had already fought as Phantom Wind. Her early confidence in her ability to solve every problem was shattered when she discovered that the Chameleon Monster’s host was Haihara. Unable to stop the threat or identify its creator, she came to regard the incident as an unforgivable personal failure. 173 425

She initially declined to resume Magical Girl activity, believing the newer protectors of Maple Plain City should handle the city’s threats. However, she considered them inexperienced and returned to battle when the Chameleon Monster crisis escalated. 132 153

Appearance

Kiriori is a tall, graceful girl with long, thick black hair. At school, she is known for an immaculate uniform, upright posture, and a dignified presence that draws attention even during formal ceremonies. 134 144

  • Long, fine black hair, described as smooth and fragrant. 330
  • Tall, slender build; she resembles Haihara in stature and features. 189
  • Maintains a meticulously neat school-uniform appearance. 134 195
  • In her Ace-absorbed form, she manifests rusted black armor and a centaur-like knightly body. 450
  • Her transformed Phantom Wind form has crimson eyes. 446

Personality

At school, Kiriori presents herself as perfect, gentle, modest, and composed. She is admired by students and teachers alike, but this polished image leaves her without many genuinely close peers. She handles confessions tactfully and remembers individual students’ names and accomplishments. 9 24

Privately, Kiriori is deeply attached to Haihara and has long sought her affection and attention. Her fear of abandonment—rooted in losing her biological parents—can make her anxious, possessive, or controlling when Haihara is endangered. 30 427 446

She is normally calm and dependable under pressure, often taking command during crises. However, prolonged stress, nightmares, Haihara’s memory loss, and the threat of losing her again leave her emotionally unstable; this instability directly affects her magical power. 305 420 424

Abilities & Skills

Gale and Ace Transformation

Kiriori transforms through an arm ring using the sky-blue Gale crystal and pitch-black Ace crystal. 153

  • Commands wind magic on a battlefield-wide scale, including powerful gales. 153
  • Can fly at high speed and discreetly intervene in civilian emergencies, such as preventing vehicles from colliding on icy roads. 305
  • Has unusually rapid Magical Girl recovery compared with her peers. 420
  • Her magical power is strongly affected by her emotional state; Doctor Kougami warns her to avoid transforming while unstable. 420

Crystal Magic and Spellcraft

Kiriori is highly proficient with transformation crystals and other magical resources.

  • Her Gale crystal remained notably “pure” despite her recent instability. 420
  • She independently inscribed a spell into Gale without being taught by Haihara Ryo. 420
  • A memory-erasure spell once placed within Gale was later replaced with a memory-awakening incantation prepared by Takanashi. 449
  • Maintains purified Holy Domain Crystals and provides one for Takanashi’s memory-restoration spell. 443

Combat Training and Leadership

Haihara Ryo supplied Kiriori’s initial magical tool and crystals, taught her combat techniques, and instructed her on advancing toward the Holy Domain. 267

  • Acts as an experienced senior who guides Kirishima Ai, Takanashi Shiori, and the other younger Magical Girls. 195 300
  • Remains decisive in dangerous situations, including dividing the group to search the Flower Demon King’s domain. 449
  • Uses investigative reasoning and publicly promotes herself as the detective of Great Detective Magical Girl Phantom Wind. 263

Ace Absorption

Kiriori can force the Ace Crystal into her body to become a Monster-like combatant rather than a conventional Magical Girl. 450

  • Greatly increases her power against Black Death Cult opponents. 450
  • Produces darkened wind magic, ominous lightning, and black armor. 450
  • The form feels unpleasant and unnatural to her, and she does not wish to sustain it for long. 450

Savior-Cleansing Pegasus

As “Savior” Skywind, Kiriori uses a cleansed Devil King Crystal to wield Crown Magical Girl power. 471 472

  • Safely transforms using Eve’s Devil King Crystal rather than being corrupted by it. 471
  • Can teleport allies to safety. 472
  • Possesses magical power comparable to Prison Flower God after it absorbed the city’s magic. 472
