Gongsun Die came from the Gongsun Clan's remotest branch and was a distant relative of Gongsun Ye. Her standing was even lower than his, and the two had no meaningful relationship while growing up. She eventually entered the Demon Sect, while Gongsun Ye joined the Black and White Divine Palace. 181

Known within the Demon Sect for her transformation and escape arts, she stole the Southern Brightness Collection and defected. The Demon Sect subsequently hunted her as a traitor. 89 96

After stealing the Southern Brightness Collection, Gongsun Die pursued Ning Ye because she believed he had interfered with her theft. She investigated his suspicious history, intended to bring him under her control, and instead fell into his trap. Their confrontation ended with her capture and coerced cooperation. 91 95 96

Chess Player City and Frost Moon Market

Gongsun Die returned to Chess Player City after accepting a paid assignment to impersonate Aunt Ling and approach Chi Wanning. Ning Ye hired her to plant Moon Shadow Cold Sand throughout Frost Moon Market, after which she and Chi Wanning killed Lin Shengjiao, infiltrated the market, and stripped its treasury. 166 174 177
