Nature and Composition

• Chakra is produced by combining a person's Physical Energy and Spiritual Power. 35
• A soul is composed entirely of Spiritual Energy and is considered part of Chakra; chakra itself contains a portion of soul power. 8
• Chakra can be released as an aura powerful enough to exert pressure on others and create visible ripples in the air. 1
• Changes to the body’s cells can cause a qualitative increase in chakra. First Hokage Cells, for example, greatly stimulated Ao’s cells and doubled his chakra after a small serum injection. 11
• Bloodline compatibility can determine how much chakra a body can withstand and what transformations it can produce. 17 18 19

Power System

Ao evaluates ninja strength using an eight-attribute, 100-point system: Nin, Tai, Gen, Ken, Strength, Speed, Seal, and Cha (chakra quantity). 18

Nature Transformations and Bloodlines

Basic Chakra Natures

• The five standard chakra natures are Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water. 45 49
• Mastering one nature transformation is sufficient to be considered Jonin-level; mastering two is regarded as elite among village ninja. 32
• Ao’s original body has affinities for Fire, Lightning, and Earth Release. 49

Kekkei Genkai

• Ice Release is created by fusing Wind and Water chakra at a 3:1 ratio during nature transformation. A Yuki Clan body can perform this fusion naturally, while Ao’s original body cannot create Ice Release independently. 40
• Wood Release is associated with First Hokage Cells and possesses immense life force. It can generate forests, restrain enemies, and—when used through the Wood Dragon Technique—absorb chakra. 17 27 48
• Ao identifies Sharingan ocular power as Yin Release and Wood Release life force as Yang Release, treating them as chakra types separate from the five standard natures. 45

Chakra and the Soul

Soul-Based Techniques

Soul-related techniques rely on the portion of chakra connected to Spiritual Power. Recorded examples include the Multi Shadow Clone Technique, Dead Demon Consuming Seal, Spirit Transformation Technique, and Mind Body Switch Technique. 8

• Spirit Transformation Technique — Projects the user’s soul outside the body for soul-level action. Ao uses it to release his soul during combat and to attack an opponent through Soul Tremor. 11
• Chakra Scalpel — A blade formed from spiritual energy. Ao uses it in experimentation and later as a close-range weapon against Anbu. 8 27
• Soul Body Separation Technique — A sealing technique that strips a soul from a living body and seals it into another object. It is exceptionally difficult despite its A-rank rating. 21
• Nirvana Self-Sacrifice Technique — Ao’s fusion of Spirit Transformation and Soul Body Separation. It enables soul possession, but cannot affect souls of equal strength; possession loses at least half of the user’s soul power and may erase memories. 20 21

Sharingan and Soul Power

• Ao’s two fused souls grant him unusually high soul power and rapid mastery of soul-based techniques. 21
• Shadow Writing Dust Realm combines Sharingan ocular power with soul power, imprinting Ao’s will onto an opponent’s visual nerves rather than creating a conventional genjutsu. 27
  • It creates a semi-invisible effect by making Ao’s figure appear illusory while the environment remains real. 27
  • It is difficult for opponents with weaker souls to escape, but can be countered by avoiding Ao’s eyes and relying on nonvisual senses. 27
  • It was ineffective against Deva Path Pain’s Rinnegan. 48

Natural Energy and Sage Arts

• Natural Energy is a planetary power distinct from ordinary chakra and is described as the vitality of the world. 20 34
• Chakra is formed from Physical Energy and Spiritual Power, while Natural Energy can be converted into or combined with those forces. 35
• The White Snake Sage identifies three fundamental powers: Natural Energy, Physical Energy, and Spiritual Energy. 35

Ryūchi Cave Method

Ryūchi Cave’s secret art uses Spiritual Energy to contain and fuse with Natural Energy in soul form, creating Sage Art without requiring the physical body’s participation in a standard 1:1 chakra balance. 33 35

• The method demands extremely powerful Spiritual Energy. Failure causes the soul to be assimilated into Natural Energy and dissipate completely. 35
• Unlike Mount Myōboku’s meditation-based method, Ryūchi Cave’s method allows Natural Energy to be absorbed while moving and can maintain continuous Sage Mode operation. 33
• Orochimaru’s Cursed Seal was developed as a shortcut for borrowing Natural Energy because his body could not endure Sage Art training. 32

Sage Soul State

Ao completes a Sage Soul Body by fusing his soul with Natural Energy. His Sharingan initially obstructs the final fusion, forcing him to remove both soul-eyes before restoring them afterward. 36

• The completed Sage Soul allows Ao to command Natural Energy directly and replenish spent reserves by absorbing surrounding Natural Energy. 37
• After merging the Sage Soul with his body, Ao can generate Sage Art Chakra at any time and perceive nearby Natural Energy. 37
• Sage Art-enhanced Wood Release can expand Deep Forest Emergence across several hundred meters, absorb chakra, and petrify enemies. 48
