Whale-Swallow Silkworm-Eat
"You're pretty sensitive," Hela said, taking another sip of tea.
"Yeah. If you went to a Supreme Plane or Divine Plane before reaching deity level, you'd be asking for death. Luckily, I'm a Super Divine Beast. I came of age and became a god quickly, and I also gained my Innate Divine Ability, 'Whale-Swallow Silkworm-Eat.' With this ability, I was invincible among those of my rank. Later, I established a kingdom on the continent, but those kingdoms never lasted more than a few centuries before falling apart. So, little by little, I stopped caring about mortal kingdoms. After that, I became a Mid-God. Life in the Material Plane was so dull and dreary that I finally couldn't resist setting foot in the Life Divine Realm." Lincoln's eyes were filled with recollection.
"Whale-Swallow Silkworm-Eat? That's quite a name. I've heard that this move can devour the divine power and souls of others at the same level—swallowing divine power like a whale and nibbling away at souls like a silkworm. For Deity-level experts, except for their Saint Original Bodies, their bodies are entirely made of divine power. Once that power is drained, their divine bodies are destroyed, and so is their Material Defense, unless their Saint Original Body is even stronger than their divine body. And when their soul is devoured, it's not merely a matter of their Soul Defense being breached. They die outright." Hela paused. "Of course, that's not the most important part. The real significance of devouring divine power is that, once you've absorbed enough divine power from all seven laws at your level, your Saint Original Body will gain a body of the same level."
"Vivian really did tell you. To be honest, that was why I chose to become a Sovereign Envoy. Cultivating in the Supreme Planes truly produces twice the results with half the effort. It's much easier to comprehend the laws here than it was in the Material Plane when it had just come into being. In a little over a thousand years, I cultivated from a Mid-God to a Highgod, then spent quite a while bringing my Mysteries close to complete fusion. It's a shame I couldn't take that final step, even after ten million years." Lincoln sighed. "Becoming a Paragon is truly too difficult."
"Indeed. Becoming a Paragon is too difficult!" Death Chief Sovereign sighed as well. Among the Four Rule Sovereigns, she was the only one who wasn't a Paragon Sovereign. Though the Heart of the Underworld, her Sovereign Artifact-level body, and her Innate Divine Ability allowed her to stand equal to the others, it still frustrated her whenever she thought about it.
"Little one, after all that talking, I'll tell you a story of my own." Hela looked up at the sky, then turned to Lincoln.
"If you're in the mood to tell one, I'll be sure to listen carefully," Lincoln said with a smile, returning from his recollections.
"Do you know how the Four Supreme Planes and Seven Divine Planes came to be?" Hela suddenly asked.
"I do. There are four Overgods in the world: Life, Fate, Death, and Destruction. The four of them created the Life Divine Realm, Heaven, the Underworld, and Hell. Later, the Sovereign Sparks appeared, ushering in the age of the Sovereigns. The Sovereigns of each law system followed the Overgods' instructions and joined forces to create the Seven Divine Planes. Because they were created differently, all the laws are easy to cultivate in the Four Supreme Planes, whereas each Divine Plane is suited only to cultivating its own system of laws," Lincoln replied.
"Right. The seven Sovereigns of each system had to join forces to create a Divine Plane, and every one of them had to be present. If so, all forty-nine law Sovereign Sparks should have been refined. So how did you manage to obtain a Dark Sovereign Spark?"
Lincoln fell silent for a moment. "The previous Dark Sovereign must have been killed by the other Sovereigns."
To kill a Mid-Sovereign, one would have to be a Chief Sovereign of some system or a Paragon Mid-Sovereign. Lincoln had already learned from the Life Sovereign that Augusta had the Dark Sovereign Spark, and he was troubled about how to deal with it. Augusta's counterpart was Orf, and Augusta himself was domineering by nature. Whether he would listen to Lincoln's "made-up explanation" was another matter. The key was Orf. Since Lincoln had obtained the Sovereign Spark by completing the sixth Overgod Mission—and it was a Fate Overgod Mission—Orf had already gathered the Material Defense and Soul Defense Supreme Artifacts by then. No one in this Subordinate Universe could defeat him.
"Right. The previous owner of the Sovereign Spark in your head was Aikes, a Paragon of the Laws of Darkness!" Hela dropped a bombshell.
"How could that be? A Paragon Mid-Sovereign is practically equal to an ordinary Chief Sovereign. How could Augusta have killed him? Unless the few of you intervened?" Though he asked, Lincoln believed her. Augusta had a Sovereign clone, giving him one more measure of Willpower than an ordinary Chief Sovereign. It was entirely plausible that he could kill Aikes.
"Why would we attack a Mid-Sovereign for no reason?" Hela explained slowly. "Aikes was a Paragon and considered himself one of the Chief Sovereigns. He never showed respect to Dark, the Darkness Chief Sovereign, and he also disliked Augusta's way of doing things, offending him several times. Eventually, Dark and Augusta joined forces to scheme against him and bring about his death. Still, we found it strange that Augusta could kill Aikes. We can only assume he had certain techniques for boosting his strength, like Destruction Chief Sovereign, me, and Zijing."
Lincoln understood. Aikes had talked himself into an early grave. But Lincoln had to thank him for running his mouth—his death had given Lincoln an opportunity.
Lincoln was about to ask more when he suddenly saw the Energy Avatar before him dissipate. A cool voice followed. "Little one, cultivate diligently!"
More than two hundred years later, Lincoln opened his eyes while in seclusion. Even with Faith Power alone, he still hadn't become a Paragon. His energy and spirit were vigorous. He lightly traced a finger through the air, and a person-sized spatial rift appeared. Lincoln stepped through. The endless Spatial Turbulence whipped his black outfit about, but couldn't harm him in the slightest.
Lincoln gazed impassively at this "forbidden zone," which only Sovereigns could enter. His heart was filled with emotion. With a light point of his finger, the Dark Sovereign Power he had collected for three hundred years appeared out of thin air. It coiled around him like a ten-thousand-meter serpent, tightened, then suddenly exploded. The blast spread across a radius of a hundred million miles. Even its scattered force was enough to injure a Low-Sovereign.
Under the authority of the Sovereign Spark, every drop of Sovereign's Might was like a general, controlling billions upon billions of dark elements as they underwent a mysterious transformation. Covering an area of more than a billion miles, a newborn plane gradually took shape.
Lincoln was completely immersed in his comprehension. The way the dark elements condensed was profoundly enlightening. Could "Concealment" and "Devouring" be combined like this? Could "Infinite Zone" be used this way? At that moment, the laws of dark elements were like a beautiful woman who had shed her clothes, allowing Lincoln to admire her completely, with nothing hidden. Even so, some parts remained obscured by shifting light and shadow, leaving him unable to see them clearly.
Lincoln had already fully fused the dark elements, Shadow Clone Technique, Devouring, Concealment, and five other Mysteries. But Infinite Zone and Evil Mystery had yet to reach full fusion. Once he broke through, he would be able to fuse all six Mysteries together!
