Although Christmas dinners were generally held on Christmas Eve, because of the Christmas Ball at the academy, students had always moved their private gatherings to Christmas night—tonight.
On this night, classes, clubs, or groups of friends would gather to eat, drink, and share amusing stories from the ball, somehow managing to find a bit of holiday spirit.
