Then he turned to Honedge and said, "Honedge, you're not allowed to absorb Gatomon's magic!"
Honedge immediately became somewhat dejected.
It probably had yet to understand whether this behavior was good or bad, and merely regarded it as something as natural as breathing.

In other words, Honedge could replenish its own magic consumption by absorbing Gatomon's magic.
That way, even if Honedge was not recorded in [Paradise], it could remain outside indefinitely.
