Class Evaluation History

Position in the School System

• A class’s evaluation points are affected by student conduct, academic performance, and monthly special exams; poor behavior such as tardiness, phone use during class, sleeping, and fighting can cause deductions 7 12.
• Monthly living expenses are calculated as the class evaluation score multiplied by 100. A score of 0 therefore leaves every student without private points for that month 11 33 35.
• The A–D designations are fluid rather than permanent. A class can overtake another by accumulating a higher evaluation score 7 34.
• Only students who graduate as Class A are recognized as Ikusei High School graduates and receive the school’s advertised rewards; graduates from Classes B, C, and D are issued diplomas under other schools’ names 35.

Background

During the entrance ceremony, Class D was dismissed last. The Student Council secretary observed its students standing unevenly and casually, judging them the worst-behaved of the four first-year classes; she was nevertheless struck by the number of cute and attractive girls among them 3.

Class D failed to discover the school’s class-competition system during the first month or to organize countermeasures against behavioral deductions. By the midpoint of the month, it had already lost 600 of its initial 1,000 evaluation points 24. Homeroom teacher Chabashira Sae privately encouraged Horikita Suzune to investigate the school’s unusual rules, but Horikita’s attempt did not produce results and exposed Chabashira’s improper intervention 26 28.

The class’s evaluation ultimately fell to 0. Chabashira condemned it as the school’s most absurd and worst class, while the students learned that their missing monthly allowance had technically been deposited as zero points 34 35.

Despite the collapse, Class D is not regarded as harmless. Chabashira believes several unusual students could become the force needed to unite the class, while Shirogane considers it highly dangerous if its specialized students begin acting toward a common goal 24 39.

Relationships

• Chabashira Sae — Class D’s homeroom teacher. A former Class D student whose own class rose to Class B, she is determined to see her current class reach Class A and was punished for improperly feeding Horikita information 24 25 36.
• Shirogane Miyuki — An external observer and information-trading partner. He exchanges Class A and Class B intelligence for data on Class D, while assessing the class as a potentially dangerous rival 30 31 39.
• Sakayanagi Arisu — Views Class D’s hidden “genius” as a threat. She asks Shirogane to suppress Class D and defeat Ayanokoji in exchange for a 20 million-point reward 38 39.
• First-Year Class C / Ryuen’s class — A competing lower-ranked class that imposed strict discipline early, preserved 735 points, and overtook the original Class B while Class D fell to zero 23 34 35.
• Class A and Class B — Class D receives intelligence on both classes through Horikita’s exchange with Shirogane and Kushida’s information gathering 30 31 36.

Story Role

Class D initially serves as the clearest example of the consequences of ignorance in Ikusei High School’s meritocratic system. While other classes uncover the first-month conduct assessment and adopt countermeasures, Class D remains disorganized and exhausts its entire starting score 33 35.

After its failure, the class becomes a strategic unknown. Its students appear scattered and leaderless, but the presence of Horikita, Kushida, Koenji, and Ayanokoji gives it the potential to become a serious competitor if someone can unify their abilities 24 39.
