Background / History
Sakayanagi entered Ikusei High School as a First-Year Class A student. On the day of the entrance ceremony, she had already concluded that the school’s free tuition, living allowance, and exceptional advancement rate concealed an unusual system; she warned Shirogane Miyuki that “the things that are free are often the most expensive.” 2
Despite her poor health, Sakayanagi quickly secured supporters in Class A by sharing her observations of the school. Within two days of enrollment, she had gathered enough followers to direct intelligence-gathering efforts, and Student Council President Horikita Manabu identified her as third place in the entrance examination, with superior academic ability and intelligence. 10 15
She spent her entire initial 100,000 private points to obtain the first-year student roster, then used points and outside contacts to acquire further intelligence about the school. Her supporters contributed points voluntarily; Sakayanagi later stated that 22 students supported her and received club subsidies to continue funding the faction. 16 17 27
Class A ultimately divided between Sakayanagi’s aggressive faction and Katsuragi Kohei’s conservative faction. Sakayanagi views Katsuragi’s strategy of preserving Class A’s existing lead as short-sighted, believing the lower-ranked classes are more dangerous than he realizes. 20 27 33
Appearance
Sakayanagi is a petite, slender girl with a visibly frail constitution. Her appearance contrasts sharply with the confident, aristocratic presence she projects. 2 10
- Silver hair with a glossy, high-quality luster 10
- Translucent, fair skin and a sickly pallor 10 27
- Uses a cane, held in her left hand, because of a congenital heart condition 10
- Often described as cute or adorable despite her imposing demeanor 18 37
- Wore a black beret during the Student Council announcement 47
Personality
Sakayanagi is highly intelligent, observant, and proactive. She identifies opportunities early, understands the school’s competitive structure, and treats information as a resource to be acquired and used. She has little patience for conservative strategies or for people she considers unexceptional. 15 27 38
Her polite speech and pleasant smile frequently conceal a manipulative, confrontational nature. She openly treats capable classmates as assets, enjoys resistance more than obedience, and uses secrets to force cooperation when persuasion or payment fail. 14 21 22
Although she leads a major Class A faction, Sakayanagi does not appear invested in preserving Class A’s supremacy for its own sake. She is willing to let lower-ranked classes develop if doing so produces stronger opponents, particularly the “genius” she seeks in Class D. 29 38
She places great importance on fairness and reacts negatively to implications that she receives special treatment or possesses more initial points than other students. 27
Abilities & Skills
Intelligence and Academic Ability
Sakayanagi possesses exceptional academic ability and analytical skill, placing third in the entrance examination and grasping the school’s hidden structure almost immediately. 15

- Arranged for store inventory to be checked daily, ensuring Kamuro’s thefts could be verified. 22
- Forced Kamuro into unpaid service for the remainder of their three years at school. 21
- Uses faction members to observe and tail other students, including Shirogane. 29
Faction Leadership
Sakayanagi established a substantial support base in Class A shortly after enrollment, with followers carrying out tasks and contributing private points. 10 27
- Her supporters voluntarily act as her “right and left hands” in exchange for her insight into the school. 14
- Maintains a distinct faction opposing Katsuragi’s conservative bloc. 20 47
- Publicly yielded command of two special exams to Katsuragi, framing the decision as a test of his “steadiness” and ability. 47
- Her leadership remains limited by Class A’s factional division. 20 26
