| Location | Description |
|---|---|
| Herb Fields | A major work area for handymen; herb-field workers rank among the more respected laborers in the valley. Qin Dongcheng originally lived in a bamboo house near the field under his care 5. |

History
Bamboo Forest Valley’s proximity to the Five Elements Sect headquarters made it comparatively secure in its early period. Official Disciples patrolled the area year-round, so large-scale Demon and Ghost incursions were rare despite occasional disappearances and infiltrations 4 57.
The valley’s herb-field laborers became increasingly connected to Qin Dongcheng after he saved Lu Gen from a venomous Bamboo Green Snake and began assisting with herb cultivation. His guidance later helped several handymen attain the Martial Artist level, raising his standing throughout the valley 8 28 47.
For years, the Bai and Dong families were the valley’s two dominant powers, while the Chen Family was a lesser but influential clan allied with the Bai Family. After the Bai and Chen families’ successive destruction, the Dong Family seized much of their wealth and became Bamboo Forest Valley’s sole local hegemon 136 137.
Security and Major Incidents
Ghost Monster Forest Raid
During Ghost Monster Forest’s large-scale assault on the Five Elements Sect, the level-eight Anomaly Well Maiden entered Bamboo Forest Valley. Qin Dongcheng killed it before it could devastate the settlement, then eliminated the remaining invading Ghost Spirits and Anomalies across the valley 132.
Although initial casualties occurred, the valley avoided the catastrophic losses suffered by Erqiao Town. Residents attributed its survival to an unidentified hidden expert, beginning the rumors surrounding the Five Elements Hidden Ancestor 132 133.
Thousand-Faced Scholar Incident
The Thousand-Faced Scholar entered the valley to investigate Well Maiden’s disappearance and was also eliminated. The consecutive deaths of two level-eight Anomalies convinced Ghost Monster Forest that a Grandmaster Supreme was concealed within Bamboo Forest Valley 142 149.
Beast King Valley and Ghost Monster Forest Assault
Beast King Valley and Ghost Monster Forest later attacked the Five Elements Mountain Range, with hostile forces advancing toward Bamboo Forest Valley and Osmanthus Garden. Qin Dongcheng defended the valley, killing the invading Demons and Ghosts above level five while protecting the herb-field area and its residents 160.
Serpent Tribe Retaliation
Following the Beast King Valley Master’s death, the snake clan launched a retaliatory raid on Bamboo Forest Valley, intending to kill the Five Elements Hidden Ancestor’s presumed associates. Qin Dongcheng destroyed the invading snake demons before they reached the valley’s interior, though Chore Disciples and residents on the outskirts were killed 166 167.
Qin Dongcheng ordered the sale of most snake demon corpses, with the proceeds used to compensate the dead Chore Disciples and residents 167.
Political Landscape
- Five Elements Sect — Maintains a strong presence through patrols, disciples, markets, missions, and facilities. It later built the Hidden Tower in the valley and treated the Five Elements Hidden Ancestor as a major protector 4 163.
- Dong Family — Rose from co-hegemon to the valley’s sole dominant clan after the Bai and Chen families fell. Fear of the Hidden Ancestor later compelled it to investigate and punish its own wrongdoing disciples 136 150.
- Bai Family — Formerly one of the two principal valley powers and a major operator in the Black Market. Its destruction dramatically altered the local balance of power 82 116 136.
- Chen Family — A former second-tier local clan that declined after losing its high-ranking members; its resources were subsequently plundered by the Five Elements Sect and other factions 127.
Economy and Development
- Herb cultivation, farming, vegetable production, and Beast Fields form the valley’s foundational economy 5.
- Water Mirror Bamboo from Moonlight Slope is valuable for low-level pill refinement, particularly its bamboo shoots 34.
- The Bamboo Forest Black Market became an important outlet for medicinal herbs, pills, Strange Treasures, and auction goods 43 80 82.
- Following the Hidden Ancestor’s emergence, resources and treasures flowed into the valley, while both the Black Market and Osmanthus Market expanded severalfold 175 176.
- Its reputation for safety triggered a migration of disciples, elders, and their families; housing prices rose severalfold as Bamboo Forest Valley began developing from a large town toward a county-sized settlement 175.
Reputation
Bamboo Forest Valley became widely regarded as safer than even Tongtian Peak because the Five Elements Hidden Ancestor was believed to be stationed there. This reputation deterred Demons and Ghosts and attracted residents from across the Five Elements Sect’s territory 150 165 175.
“Everyone in Bamboo Forest Valley ought to thank Hidden Ancestor. Without him, Bamboo Forest Valley would have been destroyed long ago, and everyone would have died.” 150
