Background / History

Dong Hongyan is a direct descendant of the wealthy Dong Family. She is the daughter of Dong Changsheng, the Dong Family Head, and Zhao Li, and the elder biological sister of Dong Hongyu. Her mother left the main Dong estate after Dong Changsheng considered giving her to another powerful figure; Hongyan and Hongyu supported Zhao Li during that crisis. 26 94

As an Inner Sect Disciple, Dong Hongyan returned from a mission through the Bamboo Forest when a Level 4 Beauty Snake bewitched her with the appearance of a handsome man. She resisted long enough to turn the situation around and kill the demon, but was seriously wounded and left unconscious. Qin Dongcheng discovered her, treated her wound, and carried her back to Osmanthus Garden. 25 26

She refused to keep their relationship formal after being saved, telling Qin to call her “Big Sister” and promising to protect him. The Dong Family rewarded Qin with pills, herbs, silver, and other resources worth several thousand taels; Dong Hongyan personally gave him Blood-Solidifying Pills, allowing him to stabilize the side effects of rapid cultivation. 25 26 27
