Background and History

Kei was bullied before entering the school. She adopted a tough gyaru persona to protect herself, but remained afraid that showing vulnerability or apologizing would invite further mistreatment. She initially considered asking Yosuke Hirata to pose as her boyfriend because of his standing in Class D 11 17 19.

After noticing scars on Katsuya Shinjo’s chest during swimming class, Kei visited his dorm to ask about them. Their conversation turned to bullying; when Shinjo suggested she might have personal experience with it, she panicked. He apologized and gave her a pudding, and the two began talking more often over the following weeks 10 11.

When three Class C girls confronted Kei in the cafeteria, she sought Shinjo’s help. He defended her again when Ryuen accused her of injuring a Class C student. Afterward, Kei told Shinjo about her past and asked him to be her fake boyfriend for protection. He agreed on the condition that she join his Odd Jobs Agency. Although they called the arrangement fake, both showed signs of genuine romantic interest 17 18 19.

Appearance

Kei has a cute face and honey-colored hair tied in a high ponytail. Her styling gives her the appearance of a stereotypical gyaru 10.

Odd Jobs Agency and Studies

• Kei joins the Odd Jobs Agency as part of her agreement with Shinjo. Members may choose whether to take requests and share the reward equally when they participate 19 23.
• Worried about the midterms, she asks Shinjo for help. Studying is initially difficult for her, but she persists and makes substantial progress 21 24 25.
• Shinjo gives her past midterm papers and answers to distribute to Class D. Her classmates later thank both of them for helping the class prepare 27 33 34.
• Kei struggles to manage her private points. Shinjo lends her living expenses, and paid agency commissions provide another source of points 38.

Relationships

• Katsuya Shinjo — Kei’s confidant and fake boyfriend. He protects her from Class C students, tutors her, and works with her through the Odd Jobs Agency; their feelings increasingly complicate the arrangement 17 19 24 33.
• Matsushita and Sato — Her closest friends in Class D. They tease her about Shinjo, support her choice of partner, and join the Odd Jobs Agency 11 23 24.
