Background
Airi first speaks with her classmate Yi Chen while he is investigating the accusation against Sudō Ken. She initially hesitates to approach him: his aggressive self-introduction had frightened her. When rain forces them to shelter together, they discover a shared interest in anime, and she tells him that he is gentler and funnier than she expected 7.
After Yi Chen falls ill, Airi visits him in the infirmary with fruit. She shows him photographs that accidentally captured Sudō's fight, then shares more of her photography with him. Kushida Kikyo's arrival makes the visit awkward, and Airi leaves after asking whether Kushida and Yi Chen are close 8.
Airi later asks Yi Chen to accompany her to repair her camera. That day, she sends him her location from a rooftop where Ryūen's group has gathered. Although she tells Yi Chen the person stalking her has already been dealt with, she stays nearby and records the ensuing fight. Her footage gives Yi Chen leverage over Ryūen. Afterward, Airi apologizes for trusting Kushida, whose threatening side she has now seen; she and Yi Chen agree to remain friends 13 14.
