Background

Wang Daoyuan was born in Qingxi Village. In his previous life, he lived for nearly twenty years under an old Daoist, who left him a grayish-purple translucent bead and books on geomancy, divination, and fortune-telling. A lightning strike reduced him to ash while he handled the bead; he regained his past-life memories after being reborn as a five-year-old child. 2
