Background / History

Shrek Academy stood for nearly thirty thousand years, surviving the eras of Martial Soul Hall, changing continental dynasties, and even periods of Tang Sect decline. Its longstanding prestige made it synonymous with strength and invincibility in the eyes of many soul masters. 79 90 122

The academy expanded from the original Sea God Pavilion into an institution with Outer and Inner Courts on Sea God Island. As its reputation grew, Sea God Island gained guest rooms, residential quarters, and entertainment facilities for visiting figures. 43

By the time of the Eastsea Alliance Grand Competition, Shrek possessed the continent's strongest soul master forces, political support through a Federation Neutral Faction, and largely autonomous economic power. It lacked only an independent army, leading observers to regard it as effectively “a state within a state.” 122

Shrek's influence also drew growing hostility. Xie An and other Federation figures regarded its graduates as overly loyal to their academy, dismissive of Federation law, and prone to using their strength and connections to shield one another. 30 32

Organization

Sea God Pavilion

The Sea God Pavilion serves as Shrek's senior decision-making body and is based around the Golden Ancient Tree.

Shrek Seven Devils

Every five years, the Outer Court selects a team to represent Shrek in continental competition. This team receives the temporary title of Shrek Seven Devils; the designation normally passes to a new generation when its holders enter the Inner Court or graduate. Exceptional graduates may receive the title for fifty years. 115

Before Shrek's destruction, Yun Ming designated Wu Sidu's team as the reserve Shrek Seven Devils and sent them to the Demon Archipelago for trials. 115

Story Role / Major Arcs

Federation destruction plan

A secret Federation meeting approved a plan to destroy Shrek through the Spirit Pagoda and Holy Spirit Cult, supported by God-Slaying Fixed Soul Guidance Shells. Xie An proposed first damaging Shrek spiritually by drawing it into the Skysea Alliance competition and using its reaction to influence public opinion. 30 32

Eastsea Alliance Grand Competition

Xie An formally invited Shrek to enter the competition rather than merely perform an exhibition match. The Sea God Pavilion accepted, selecting a team built around newly recruited Youth Genius Ranking talents and led by Wu Sidu. 43 44

Shrek dominated its early tournament matches, with some opponents surrendering immediately. However, Eastsea Academy defeated Shrek's team in the fourth round, marking Shrek's first genuine defeat in nearly ten thousand years. 53 54

The widely broadcast loss damaged Shrek's public standing and triggered an emergency Sea God Pavilion meeting. Its status within the Federation weakened as formerly supported Neutral Faction members defected and challenges within Shrek City increased. 54 61

Ming City final-exam incident

Seeking to reclaim its honor, Shrek instructed freshmen taking their final examination in Ming City to challenge stronger soul masters, use external help, and create as much disruption as possible. 63

The War God Temple arrested Shrek graduates who leaked classified information to assist the students and detained freshmen caught in the resulting trap. Shrek publicly accepted responsibility, apologized, and agreed to renovate infrastructure in ten affected cities in exchange for the students' release. 65 66 68

Destruction of Shrek City

Evil Soul Masters infiltrated Shrek City and launched hundreds of Level 8 and 9 Soul Guidance Shells. Shrek's defenses and soul masters repelled much of the initial assault, while Yun Ming coordinated the city's defense and civilian evacuation. 121 122

A God-Slaying Level Soul Guidance Shell was subsequently activated within the city. Yun Ming burned half his godhood to reach Divine Power level and protect Shrek, but Ghost Emperor and twelve Title Douluo prevented him from neutralizing the threat. A second shell destroyed the Tang Sect, weakened the Golden Ancient Tree's protection, and ultimately left Shrek City devastated. 123

Remnants and revival efforts

Shrek City became uninhabitable due to radiation after being struck by two Level 12 shells. Most residents were relocated, while Long Yeyue gathered surviving students in the underground shelter and trained them in hopes of restoring Shrek. 138

Long Yeyue sent Tang Yinmeng to the Devil Islands to seek aid for Shrek's remaining students. The Seven Old Devils agreed to train Wu Sidu and Xu Lizhi as a one-time exception, insisting that Shrek must ultimately rise through its own efforts. 138 140

Yali, who survived under Yun Ming's protection, eventually resolved to lead Shrek's revival and avenge his death after Long Yeyue confronted her grief. 139

• Douluo Federation — Shrek held a Neutral Faction within the Federation, but its autonomy and graduates' conduct made it a target of Federation political opposition. 30 32 122
