Sicarius strode into his lord's reception chamber with the distinctive gait of a swordmaster.
He was the Captain of the Ultramarines Chapter's Second Company, Master of the Watch, Champion Knight of Macragge, High Lord of Ultramar, and one of the finest swordsmen in the Imperium of Man.
Sicarius's hand always unconsciously rested on the hilt of his sword.
It was instinctive combat awareness, leaving him prepared for battle at every moment. Even in the safest places, his body remained taut.
"My lord," Sicarius said.
"Any new developments?" Guilliman asked as he sat back down in his chair.
"Saint Celestine arrived in the Konor System ahead of us and has already clashed with the enemy there."
"How is the battle? And what is the situation in the Konor System?" Guilliman asked.
"The battle is deadlocked. The enemy forces are highly mixed: Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, and some traitors from the Black Legion, as well as traitor forces driven out by the various expeditionary fleets. They have converged in the Konor System, with the Black Legion being the strongest among them. The Konor System's primary world has not yet fallen. The Scythes of the Emperor Chapter and part of the Azure Knights Chapter are still fighting Chaos."
The Black Legion was founded by Abaddon, the Warmaster chosen by the Four Gods.
After Horus died, the Sons of Horus splintered into countless small Chapters.
They could not even protect Horus's corpse or his flagship, both of which were seized by other Chapters.
Only Abaddon's emergence later brought a turning point.
He gathered the former Sons of Horus, along with traitors who thirsted for revenge against the Imperium, and founded the infamous Black Legion, launching expedition after expedition against the Imperium.
With the Eye of Terror as their refuge, the Black Legion stood undefeated.
